Doreen Calderon Joins ‘Fatal Attraction’ on Paramount+ TV Show Adaptation, Synopsis, Release Date & Cast Details

Doreen Calderon has been added to the cast of Fatal Attraction, a remake of the iconic 1980s film of the same name on Paramount+. Deadline broke the news of Calderon’s hiring and gave additional background on the role she’ll be playing. She’ll portray Dan Gallagher’s (Joshua Jackson) longtime assistant Maureen Walker, who also helped out with his father’s business. Maureen “knows how he thinks and keeps in perfect stride, but also has enough cred to taunt her boss from time to time,” according to Deadline. The new Fatal Attraction will be a remake of the 1987 thriller by Adrian Lyne, which starred Michael Douglas as Dan Gallagher, Anne Archer as his wife Beth Gallagher, and Glenn Close as Alex Forrest.

Dan Gallagher, a married lawyer, is having an affair with Alex Forrest, who will be portrayed by Lizzy Caplan in the new film. She takes Dan’s decision to end their relationship badly and begins stalking him and his family. According to the streaming service, the new Paramount+ series will take the ideas of the renowned film and examine them “through the perspective of modern perceptions regarding strong women, personality disorders, and coercive control.” Recent performances by Calderon may be seen in shows including Apple TV+’s Loot and Fox’s Call Me Kat, the CW’s Riverdale, and NBC’s This Is Us. Please Hold (for which she was nominated for an Academy Award in 2020), in which she co-starred with Erick Lopez and Daniel Edward Mora, and Final Payback (2001), directed by Art Camacho, are only two of her cinematic credits. Movies starring Tobin Bell, such as Curse of the Clown Motel, and a new season of the HBO Max series White House Plumbers, are also on the way.

Alexandra Cunningham, who also serves as the showrunner, is writing the script for the Fatal Attraction adaptation on Paramount+. She collaborated on the tale with Kevin J. Hynes, and it will serve as the basis for the series. Together with Darryle Frank and Justin Falvey of Amblin Television, the pair also acts as executive producers on the show. Amanda Peet, Wanda De Jesus, Alyssa Jirrels, Toby Huss, Reno Wilson, and Brian Goodman will all be appearing in the next thriller series with returning cast members Joshua Jackson, Lizzy Caplan, and now Calderon. Although a launch date for Fatal Attraction has not been revealed, the show will debut on Paramount+.
