A former love interest in Carrie Bradshaw’s life has apparently reappeared. And Now Like That…, the HBO Max sequel to the groundbreaking Sex and the City has just revealed that John Corbett, the actor behind the gorgeous Aidan Shaw, has joined the cast for season two. In Sex and the City, Corbett’s part was crucial. Carrie Bradshaw, a columnist in New York City, had a significant relationship with Aidan Shaw, played by Josh Charles, for several seasons.
Carrie’s prolonged involvement with Big, an emotionally unreliable but attractive businessman with a passion for models and cigars, caused tension in her relationship with Aidan. Fans of And Just Like That… were left wondering if Carrie could find a place in her life for a renewed romance with the tough and emotionally savvy furniture manufacturer following Big’s devastating death in the first season. Before the season one premiere earlier this year, Corbett had hinted at his involvement.
In April of that year 2021, he told Page Six, “I think I might be in quite a few episodes.” Unfortunately for many members of Team Aidan, this turned out to be false. It appears that Corbett’s pretended interest in the show before the first season has turned into a serious interest in the second season. Another fan favourite, Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), didn’t make it back for the first season.
Cattrall, on the other hand, doesn’t appear to be interested in reprising her role as Samantha. However, much of Sex and the City’s main ensemble is back for the upcoming series, including Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda, and Kristen Davis as Charlotte. However, Willie Garson, who played Carrie’s best friend Stanford, passed away during the making of the new series. This wouldn’t be the first time this year that Corbett has revisited a fan-favourite role.
In the latest instalment of the My Big Fat Greek Wedding film series, he once again plays Ian, the outsider who married into a very large, Greek family. When Aidan comes back, Carrie’s life might get complicated again. As it stands, we’ll have to tune in to HBO Max in the fall for the launch of Season 2 of And Just Like That… The complete first season is currently available on the streaming service.
