The filming of Red, White, and Royal Blue, based on Casey McQuiston’s novel of the same name, has concluded for release on Prime Video. This is fantastic news for readers who wish to visualise the story presented in the book. Audience anticipation for the film has skyrocketed with the announcement and the recent publication of photographs from the film’s production. The film’s protagonists, Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez confirmed the wrap in a celebratory video shared with TikTok. In the Instagram video shared by Perez, the two main characters stand with a clapperboard. With the clapper open, Perez asks the crowd, “Guess what?” Galitzine then confirms the announcement and closes it. That’s it, it’s over.
The video’s unexpected turn at the end highlights the charmingly antagonistic chemistry between the two, which is fitting for their enemies-to-lovers storyline. The TikTok was captioned by Perez, “That’s a wrap on RED, WHITE, and ROYAL BLUE!” Alex Claremont-Diaz (Perez), the Mexican-American son of a newly elected United States President, is the protagonist of the film version of Red, White & Royal Blue. He must keep up his mother’s good name by seeming to have a friendly connection with Prince Henry of England (Galitzine). Although they first tolerate one other for the sake of appearances, they eventually create a more meaningful bond. However, if Alex’s mother is to run for reelection as president, then their connection must remain hidden.
Since its 2019 publication, Red, White, and Royal Blue has been a New York Times and USA Today bestseller, among many other recognitions, including the 2019 Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Romance and Best Debut. There is already a dedicated following for the next picture, which bodes well for it. Co-stars include Uma Thurman, Rachel Hilson, Clifton Collins Jr., Stephen Fry, Sarah Shahi, Ellie Bamber, Aneesh Sheth, Polo Morin, Ahmed Elhaj, Akshay Khanna, Sharon D. Clarke, Thomas Flynn, and Malcolm Atobrah in addition to Perez and Galitzine. Director Matthew López makes his directing debut in this McQuiston book adaptation by Ted Malawer. The film is produced by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schecter and executive produced by López, McQuiston, and Michael McGrath.
There is currently no set date for the film’s debut on Prime Video.
