In preparation for the new Disney+ series, Andor, Fandango has revealed that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be returning to theatres later this August. On Friday, August 26, this screening will be shown in cinemas all around the nation. On September 21, Andor will debut on Disney+, with Diego Luna reprising his Rogue One role. This release timing is wise due to the proximity to the Andor premiere as well as the absence of competition that weekend at the box office. There are few details on what these prequel series sneak peek will include, but it will undoubtedly expand on the most recent teaser. In the twelve-episode run, other significant Rogue One characters including Saw Gerrera, played by Forest Whitaker, and Senator Mon Mothma, played by Genevieve O’Reilly, will also make an appearance.
Andor was created by Tony Gilroy, who after directing reshoots received a co-writer credit on Rogue One. After The Mandalorian, its spinoff The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, this is the fourth live-action Star Wars Disney+ series. The second Star Wars movie to be a spin-off of the main plot was Solo: A Star Wars Story, with Rogue One being the first in the new era. The majority of fans like Rogue One more since it garnered overwhelmingly favourable reviews and brought in $1 billion at international box offices.
The central character of Rogue One is Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso, who is the offspring of research scientist Galen (Mads Mikkelsen), who is compelled to construct the namesake Death Star for the Empire. To disrupt the Empire’s intentions and save her father, Jyn assembles a crew that includes Rebel Captain Andor (Luna), Imperial Pilot Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), and Warriors Chirrut (Donnie Yen) and Baze (Jiang Wen). Orson Krennic, the movie’s antagonist, is portrayed by Ben Mendelsohn. The movie was directed by Godzilla’s Gareth Edwards, who took John Knoll’s initial concept as his starting point.
The movie’s script was written by Gilroy and Chris Weitz (About a Boy). Two Academy Awards were nominated for Rogue One, one for Best Sound Mixing and the other for Best Visual Effects. The spin-off, which was the second-highest earning movie of the year, brought Disney’s financial year to a triumphant conclusion. Even though the top five movies of the year were all Disney productions, Captain America: Civil War made approximately $100 million more. On August 26, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story makes its return to cinemas with a sneak glance at Andor. On September 21st, the first episode of Andor will make its Disney+ debut.
