Trailer for High School, an Emotional Series Based on Tegan and Sara’s Memoir, Teases Memorable Moments

With the announcement of High School’s launch date, Amazon Freevee has also published a teaser video and photographs from the show. As of October 14, you’ll be able to watch all eight episodes of the series on your preferred streaming platform. The series, based on Tegan and Sara Quin’s 2019 New York Times Best-Selling Memoir of the same name, will premiere on Amazon Freevee in the middle of October with four episodes running all at once.

The show follows Tegan and Sara, played by TikTok’s creators Railey and Seazynn Gilliland in their first television roles. The show will follow the two sisters as they go through high school next door to each other, a coming-of-age story set against the grunge and rave backdrop of the ’90s. The sisters’ close bond and the friendships they form with their other pupils are highlighted in the brand-new teaser trailer that was published in tandem with the airing date announcement.

The teaser for the next film depicts many of the emotional and social problems that the two will encounter with each other and their peers, from the highs of connecting over singing and songwriting to the lows that only siblings have. In September of this year, High School will have its international debut at the Toronto Film Festival. Esther McGregor plays series regular Natalie, and guest appearances include Cobie Smulders (The Avengers, How I Met Your Mother) and Kyle Bornheimer (Marriage Story, Brooklyn Nine-Nine).

Olivia Rouyre reprises her role as Phoebe, while Amanda Fix plays Maya. Newcomers Brianne Tju (I Know What You Did Last Summer) and Geena Meszaros (Under the Banner of Heaven) also make appearances. Amazon Studios and Plan B Entertainment, winner of both an Emmy and an Oscar, are responsible for the series production. The Quin sisters, together with Clea DuVall, Laura Kittrell, and Plan B’s Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Carina Sposato, served as executive producers.

Both DuVall and Kittrell are executive producers, showrunners, writers, and directors; DuVall has even helmed many episodes. The first episode of High School will air on October 14 on Amazon Freevee.

Synopsis
Finding oneself in high school is a universal experience, made more complex by having a twin whose own path of struggle and self-discovery mirrors your own in many ways. The show is set against the grunge and rave scenes of the ’90s and follows two sisters who grew up next door to each other and have recollections that are at odds with one another.
