The New Season of “Rick and Morty” Promises Even More Outer Space Mayhem, Cast, Release Date, Synopsis & More

As they won’t, we will: a hearty “wubba lubba dub dub” to you, as Adult Swim has just dropped a new trailer for the highly awaited Season 6 of Rick and Morty, with only a month to go before the launch. The new teaser offers us a taste of the cosmic disaster that is the new season, which premieres on Adult Swim on September 4 and has all the Sanchez/Smith family turmoil. HBO Max currently hosts Seasons 1–5. Like many episodes of Rick and Morty, the teaser opens with Rick and Morty in the throes of a laser gun battle with an unseen antagonist, their backs against the wall. To boost morale, Rick orders his ship to play a song. From Rick’s declaration that his family is about to “vanish from reality,” which is distinct from dying, through his and Summer’s discussion about Die Hard/Die Hard 2 escape strategies, “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath begins playing over a succession of glances into various horrific circumstances.

Adult Swim was the network’s first to air Rick and Morty in 2013. The show centres on Rick Sanchez and his everyday adventures with his grandson Morty through time and space. Watch how his garage-based lab and propensity to bring work home affects not only him, but his highly bright daughter (a horse surgeon), his unfortunate son-in-law, and his granddaughter Summer. The sitcom-style show became popular with fans almost immediately. However, it has developed a life of its own as a cultural phenomenon in the nine years following its first broadcast. Harmon and Roiland are responsible for the creation of Rick and Morty.

In the sitcom, Justin Roiland plays Rick Sanchez, Chris Parnell is Jerry Smith, Spencer Grammer is Summer Smith, Sarah Chalke is Beth Smith, Maurice LaMarche is Morty, and Kari Wahlgren is Jessica. Both critics and consumers have responded positively to the show, which has led to the creation of countless merchandise lines, licenced items, and a wide variety of Funko Pops. The sixth season begins on Adult Swim on September 4, so if you haven’t seen it yet, now is a good time to catch up on what’s now airing on HBO Max before the new episodes arrive on September 4.
