The new ‘Rosaline’ photos feature Kaitlyn Dever as Rosaline, Romeo’s rejected lover: Synopsis, Cast & Release Date

New images from Hulu’s upcoming original film Rosaline introduce us to Romeo’s jilted girlfriend Rosaline Capulet at the time of Romeo & Juliet. The first photo of Kaitlyn Dever in her role as Juliet, Shakespeare’s long-forgotten first love interest, was released in November, but fresh photographs show her and the rest of the ensemble in more detail while wearing beautiful period costumes.

On October 14th, the movie will make its streaming premiere. Rosaline, who appears to be plotting against Romeo and Juliet’s romance in order to win him back, takes the stage in three of the four new images. She is seen conversing with Dario (Sean Teale), who is later recruited for the mission to separate the couple. Teale is dressed as a soldier, and they look to be having a secret meeting in the woods.

The other two photos show Rosaline getting ready for a party in a white mask and seated at a table with Romeo (Kyle Allen), presumably before Juliet enters and sweeps him off his feet. The last picture gives us our first glimpse of Isabela Merced as Juliet, Romeo’s love interest. She is dressed like a true Capulet princess, with her long, white and gold gown adorned with bright crimson cuffs. Shakespeare’s tale of doomed lovers is turned into a romantic comedy in Rosaline. It focuses on Romeo’s longing for Juliet’s cousin Rosaline before he meets her by chance at a Capulet banquet.

Rosaline is devastated when Romeo meets Juliet, despite the fact that in the original narrative her love for Romeo was unrequited. After Romeo rejects her, she does all in her power to stop the blossoming of their legendary love story. The film was directed by Karen Maine (Yes, God, Yes) and written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. Rebecca Serle’s novel When You Were Mine serves as inspiration for this updated version; it follows Rob and Rosaline as their love crumbles once Rob’s high school sweetheart, Juliet, returns to town with her eyes set on him.

Instead of focusing on the teen drama of the novel, Maine and the crew decided to stick with the original premise and play up the humour. Produced by Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Dan Levine, the picture also stars Minnie Driver and Bradley Whitford. In addition to Emily Morris, the show’s executive producers are Dever, Neustadter, and Weber. On October 14th, you may see Rosaline on Hulu.
