New Horror Film Trailer for Shudder, Edgar Allan Poe Travels to Raven’s Hollow: Release Date, Cast, Synopsis & More

Before its premiere at UK’s FrightFest on August 27th, Shudder has released a chilling new teaser for Raven’s Hollow. On September 22, just in time for the Halloween season, the film will debut on Shudder. One of the most enigmatic and cherished horror authors of all time, Edgar Allan Poe, will be given a terrifying new look in Raven’s Hollow. Poe’s work includes the extremely gothic short tales The Masque of the Red Death and The Tell-Tale Heart, as well as the poem The Raven.

Fans and historians alike, however, find mystery in his private life. His death, among other things, has spawned various conspiracy theories. However, his time as a cadet at West Point is an area of his life that has not yet been discussed, and here is where the narrative of Raven’s Hollow begins. The new film follows Poe during his time at West Point in upstate New York, and it makes some extremely disturbing and unsettling liberties. Set in upstate New York during the fall of 1830, the film follows Poe and four fellow cadets as they participate in a training exercise.

A guy is found by the five cadets, strung up on a wooden rack. When Poe rushes to rescue the guy, he utters his dying word, “raven,” which sets Poe and his fellow cadets into the remote settlement of Raven’s Hollow, a town with some fairly dark and twisting stories. The new teaser provides us with a glance at Poe and the gloomy village of Raven’s Hollow, including gothic visuals worthy of the horror master himself. The teaser provides a glance into some unsettling scenes, such as a mysterious black dog, foggy wood walks, and intense eye contact beside a fire.

Who knows what mysteries the town holds? And what could have been hidden there could have been the spark that ignited Edgar Allan Poe’s eternally popular writings. Poe is portrayed by William Moseley. Moseley has had a role in the Narnia series before. The film also stars Melanie Zanetti, Kate Dickie of Game of Thrones, David Hayman, Oberon K. A. Adjepong of The Dark Tower, and Callum Woodhouse. Christopher Hatton directs the film Raven’s Hollow. Hatton and Chuck Reeves penned the screenplay for the movie. For Canoe Film, Andrejs Ekis of Cinevilla Studios, and Todd Lundbohm and Mark Andrews of 828 Media Capital are the producers. Starting on September 22nd, Raven’s Hollow will be available to stream on AMC’s Shudder.
