Rings of Power, an Amazon Prime Original series based on The Lord of the Rings, will premiere in May. Whether or whether the newest film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s books will live up to the standards set by the Academy Award-winning The Lord of the Rings trilogy is on many people’s minds. Peter Jackson, who helmed that film and The Hobbit trilogies, has now come clean about his involvement with the upcoming expensive series.
The Hollywood Reporter states that Jackson has stated that Amazon had approached him for his thoughts on the new series and that he had expected to receive scripts for the project but that he had heard nothing more from the company.
Jackson confirmed the news on the Awards Chatter podcast of The Hollywood Reporter. Walsh was the writer & producer of the acclaimed trilogy. “They asked me if I wanted to be engaged, [Walsh] and I, and I responded, ‘That’s an impossible thing to answer without reading a screenplay,'” he added. As a result, they promised to send the initial script draughts over to them as soon as they were available. None of the scripts was delivered either. And that’s the last thing I heard, too, so everything’s OK.
Absolutely zero complaints. In reaction to Jackson’s statements, Amazon Studios, which is developing The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, has issued the following statement:
According to the statement given to The Hollywood Reporter, “while obtaining the rights for our programme, we were compelled to maintain the series unique and independent from the movie.” We hold Peter Jackson and ‘The Lord of the Rings films in the highest regard, so hearing that he plans to see ‘The Rings of Power’ is a huge delight for us. According to Amazon’s response, the pause in contact occurred due to legal disputes between the company and Warner Bros., the owner of the rights to the respective trilogies.
It appears like Amazon wanted to steer clear of any potential for controversy by making sure that their new series wouldn’t be mistaken for a prequel to some of the best films of the year. Jackson, for his part, has stated that he will be viewing the series and has no ill will against Amazon or the show. A person who desires harm to others is not the type of man that I am. It’s already challenging enough to make movies. It’s a cause for celebration whenever a new movie or TV show is produced that audiences enjoy. The only way I can wait to see it is as a completely objective spectator. Also featured in the epic cast of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” are Charlie Vickers, Markella Kavenagh, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Tyroe Muhafidin, Maxim Baldry, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Leon. On September 2, the premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will be held.
