Spin Me Round, directed by Jeff Baena and starring Alison Brie and Aubrey Plaza, will be released in theatres on August 19. In Spin Me Round, a film by Duplass Brothers Productions, we follow the narrative of an Italian restaurant chain manager who is given the chance of a lifetime to take part in the franchise’s educational immersion programme. A trip she had hoped would be romantic instead became a disastrous one when the protagonists were on a magnificent business trip in Italy, entangling them in a web of intrigue and adventure. The two-minute preview focuses on Amber (Brie) as she travels to Italy in search of romance.
But upon her arrival, she was greeted by the company’s attractive CEO, Nick Martucci (Alessandro Nivola), and his lovely secretary, Kat (Plaza). Amber is seen reading News of a Kidnapping from 1996 as Kat prepares to take her on an exciting adventure around Italy.
Baena has worked with the women before, so they were a natural fit for the current comedic picture. They had previously collaborated on his 2014 comedic horror film Life After Beth, in which Plaza portrayed the title character of Zach’s (Dane DeHaan) recently deceased fiancĂ©e, Beth, who had returned from the grave. Baena then worked with Brie and Plaza on a 2017 black comedy picture set in a 14th-century monastery called The Little Hours.
Spin Me Round finds Plaza and Brie on a fresh crazy adventure, thanks to Jeff Baena’s decision to rejoin with the actresses for a brand new project. Earlier, at the SXSW Film Festival, the film had its world debut. Debby Ryan, Molly Shannon, Zach Woods, Ayden Mayeri (The Afterparty), Lil Rey Howery, Ben Sinclair (High Maintenance), Tim Heidecker, & Fred Armisen are just some of the indie comedy heavy hitters that appear in it (Portlandia).
Spin Me Round was written by Brie and Baena.
She’s on record as telling People she admires the filmmaker for his unconventional approach to narrative. Further adding, “And I can think of no better setting to explore the beauty and complexity of the human experience than in the gorgeous Italian countryside,” Brie said, “There is a huge creative freedom that comes with cooperating with him.” The next comedy picture will debut on August 19 in theatres, via video on demand, and via streaming on AMC+. Even though we’ve witnessed Plaza and Brie’s sizzling chemistry in the past, the trailer does a great job of emphasising it.
