Check Out the Making of Season 2’s Most Talked-About Scene, the Ball Shondaland, the production company behind the critically acclaimed Netflix series Bridgerton, has just published a new behind-the-scenes look at the making of one of the season’s most talked-about sequences. Fans of the programme can now see how much effort goes into creating stunning moments like the Hearts and Flowers Ball sequence from Season 2 thanks to the new “Inside the Scenes” feature. The new behind-the-scenes look at the Hearts and Flowers gala dance choreography has been posted to the Shondaland website.
Actors Simone Ashley as Kate and Jonathan Bailey as Anthony are interviewed in the new film, which also features series choreographer Jack Murphy. In the new video, Murphy explains the significance of the passage, which features over two minutes of dancing before the two eventually talk. Murphy described the sequence as “an incredible ball.” Because it has one of the most ambitious dance sequences we’ve done in Bridgerton so far,” he went on. For Anthony and Kate, I think it’s a true time of kind of explosive sort of volcanic sexual needs coming forth but in a manner that they can convey that they can’t in any other way,” said Jonathan Bailey.
The new video provides essential context for the season’s core conflict and the enemies-to-lovers romance between Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma. Since the second season was even more popular than the first, establishing the show’s reputation as a cultural phenomenon, it’s apparent that the show’s strategy to emphasise physical tension was a success. Season 3 of the show is presently in development, and it will centre on the romance between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Tom Chambers) (Luke Newton).
Penelope’s best friend Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jesse) has turned on her after discovering that Penelope is the notorious gossip writer Lady Whistledown, leaving Penelope in a difficult situation towards the conclusion of the previous season. We don’t yet know what kind of stunning dance sequences and witty one-liners to expect from the forthcoming season, but this new video certainly makes us appreciate the level of craftsmanship that goes into making the show. Julia Quinn’s novel series serves as the inspiration for Bridgerton. As part of her production agreement with Netflix, Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland is producing the series.
