In order to bring the famous comic book series Brutal Nature to the big screen, IDW has teamed up with the Latin American animation company nima. According to Variety, the firms have signed a wider development contract, with the popular series created by Luciano Saracino and Ariel Olivetti serving as the first project to come out of the partnership. There will be an animated series for adults based on the book. In the series by Saracino and Olivetti, the protagonist, Ich, wears several masks to assume the identities of various villainous and powerful beings.
He uses the supernatural abilities he inherited to fight with the Colombian natives who are defending their homeland from the Spanish conquistadors. The fate of the nation and its very soul hangs in the balance as these two factions engage in a brutal struggle. The show is co-produced by IDW and Fernando De Fuentes and José C. Garca de Letona. IDW has been actively turning comics into popular television programmes, so a Brutal Nature adaptation is perfectly up their alley. The firm is responsible for a number of shows, including Locke & Key on Netflix, which is based on a comic book series by Joe Hill & Gabriel Rodrguez, and Surfside Girls, a family show on Apple TV+ that is based on a series of graphic novels by Kim Dwinell.
Executive VP of IDW Entertainment Paul Davidson had faith that Nima could lead their new animated series to success. According to his statement, “we are happy with their excitement for cooperating on Brutal Nature” since “we have always been great supporters of what Nima has been doing in the animation arena.” Their taste will add depth to the fantastic universe Luciano Saracino and Ariel Olivetti built. The COO of Nima, Garca de Letona, expressed nothing but appreciation for their IDW collaborators.
It’s thrilling to work with IDW on such a groundbreaking project. We can not think of a better partner to assist us to maintain bringing out high-quality stories with a Latin flavour that audiences across the world will love than Brutal Nature. nima is well-known for producing family-friendly media like El Chavo Animado and Top Cat: The Movie, so Brutal Nature will be a departure for them. Brave Bunnies, Legend Quest: Masters of Myth and Cleo & Cuquin are just a few of the latest shows produced by the company for streaming services including Netflix, HBO Max, and YouTube.
