The fourth season of Sex Education on Netflix is almost here. Four cast members, including Rakhee Thakrar, Simone Ashley, Tanya Reynolds, and Patricia Allison, have recently left the show. Variety has announced that a beloved figure will be returning. For Season 4, Eric Effiong’s closest buddy Ncuti Gatwa will reprise his role as Otis’ beloved best friend.
He instantly became a fan favourite when he put his flamboyant, exuberant, and unabashed attitude on display in Season 1 of the show. He and Otis’s close relationship was also evident to the audience (Asa Butterfield).
Although Eric was a great buddy who always had his back, he also had his share of problems, chief among them being bullied mercilessly by another kid named Adam (Connor Swindells). While at another school, Eric and Adam form a covert romance. In Season 2, Eric meets and falls in love with Rahim, a new pupil. Eric and Adam, on the other hand, would quickly rekindle their romance in Season 3 and go on dates. Eric’s character provides a window into the lives of a homosexual Nigerian youngster growing up in a strongly religious home separate from the romantic entanglements.
The episode had multiple situations with Eric in which he refused to disguise his true personality, but when it was essential, he did so in the best way possible. Gatwa’s comeback is a huge comfort to fans who were worried about which cast member will be the next to depart the show. When Gatwa was chosen to play the Fourteenth Doctor in the hit television series Doctor Who, it was unclear what would become of his role in Sex Education. Gatwa was able to appear in both performances because of some scheduling manipulation, according to Variety.
In addition, he and his Sex Education co-star Emma Mackey will appear in the forthcoming Barbie movie. Gillian Anderson plays Otis Milburn, a sexually-challenged adolescent whose mother (Otis’s father) works as a sex therapist. An unintentional sexual advice exchange occurs in Season 1 between Otis and one of his coworkers. As a result, he and his high school classmate Maeve decide to open an illicit sex therapy clinic (Mackey). The clinic has been taken over by someone else before the end of Season 3.
Meanwhile, Hope, the new head of Moordale Secondary Schools, has been hired and aims to implement some policy changes to improve the school’s reputation. Moordale is sold to developers at the end of the season, forcing its kids to find a new school. It has been reported that Laurie Nunn will be returning for Season 4 as the show’s creator and executive producer. Some other cast members who are still anticipated to return include Butterfield, Anderson Mackey Swindells, Aimee Lou Wood Kedar Williams-Stirling, and Alistair Petrie.
In the next months, production on the fourth season of Sex Education will begin. Netflix has released the first three seasons of the show.
