When shooting on HBO’s The Last of Us closed up, fans were eager to see more of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, but so far they’ve only seen snippets. The series, dubbed “the largest production in Canadian history,” is based on the very popular computer game “Naughty Dog” and has a devoted following. It had been in development for a long time before HBO picked it up.
To shed some light on the tough process of bringing the cherished narrative to life on screen, Ramsey chatted with SheKnows recently. In 2013, it was released. The US has been decimated by the Cordyceps brain illness in the post-apocalyptic world of The Last of Us. The story revolves around Joel, a smuggler charged with accompanying Ellie, a young girl, out of a quarantine area. In the process of developing a vaccine, Ellie’s immune system will come in handy. “I think people are going to appreciate [the adaptation],” Ramsey stated when discussing the high expectations that come with managing a popular property. I am sure there were some folks who were concerned about it.
You’re going to be concerned about the adaptation when something is so dear to you as a spectator or a player. But I’m confident that people will enjoy it.” Additionally, she talked about how, while the show’s story would follow a similar emotional arc to that of the games, it will also take some unexpected turns that will delight even diehard fans. She said, ” There are a lot of emotional moments in it that are extremely faithful to the game, and it is quite reverent and appreciates the game itself.
A fresh perspective is provided by the live-action series adaption. It delves into areas of the game that weren’t previously covered. It had not been a hit with moviegoers in Sony’s earlier video game-based feature picture Uncharted with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg. On a budget of $120 million, the film raked in $401.7 million worldwide and was highly panned by fans. Ramsey, on the other hand, is confident that viewers will enjoy what they see when the episode premieres.

When [audiences] join us on this journey, I hope they have the same experience.” Besides Pascal and Ramsey, Gabriel Luna portrays Joel’s younger brother Tommy, a former soldier and Joel’s younger half-sister. Other voice actors from the game, like Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, will also appear. PlayStation Productions, Naughty Dog, The Mighty Mint, and Word Games all contribute to the series’ creation with Sony Pictures and PlayStation Pictures. Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann serve as the series’ primary creators.
Early in the year 2023, The Last of Us Season 1 is slated to premiere.
