Scream Factory has announced that three additional Halloween films will receive the 4K Ultra HD treatment in the Halloween 4K Collection, only a little over a year after the release of the first five Halloween movie remakes (1995-2002). With Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, 20 Years Later and Resurrection collector’s editions in the mix, the renowned club is now complete. Scream Factory, as always, has included all of the original features, as well as a few more. When it comes to the Haddonfield Boogeyman’s distorted history, the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes close. Which one is a legendary creature? A demon? A sociopath? What is canon and what is non-canon? With Scream Factory’s second batch of 4K Ultra HD Halloween box sets, you have all the information you want to make an informed decision.
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, and Halloween: Resurrection is all included in the $119.98 box set, which can be pre-ordered now at www.halloweenboxset.com. Even though it is only available for pre-order, the package will be online on October 4 and be lurking and waiting for you at every turn. Play the piano!
Halloween 5: The Vengeance of Michael Myers (which seems redundant because Michael never stops seeking revenge) brought audiences back to Haddonfield six years later in The Curse. After the fifth film took a dramatic supernatural turn, one of the Halloween timelines was concluded in this Myers chapter.
A teenage Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) appears in The Curse, as does Donald Pleasence in his final performance as Dr Sam Loomis. Two decades succeeding the events of the previous two Halloween films, a resolute Michael returns to avenge his sister Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) in Halloween H20. As of 1998, Laurie serves as the principal of the private school that her teenage son John attends, who is played by ’90s heartthrob Josh Hartnett. Michael slices his way through the likes of Hartnett, Michelle Williams, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in this one, giving off a distinctly late-’90s atmosphere.
Bringing Michael Myers into the present day, the box set’s last feature has him appear in a brand new reality online programme called Dangertainment, which is set in the house where it all began for Michael. The cast of Resurrection features Busta Rhymes, Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Pie), Tyra Banks, and many more talented actors and actresses.
Shout Factory’s Halloween 4K Collection (1995-2002) includes three special posters with Michael Myers at the centre, all sporting the brand-new artwork created specifically for the 4K covers. Maybe Scream Factory will produce some 4K Rob Zombie’s in the near future? This year’s Halloween horror extravaganza wraps out on the 14th.
