However, despite the fact that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is almost around the corner, much of the film remains a secret. A new Black Panther and a catastrophic confrontation between Wakanda and Namor’s undersea realm of Talocan were teased by Kevin Feige in the film’s first teaser, which premiered at San Diego Comic-Con. From who’s in the cast and what we know about the emotional first trailer, to everything we know about Black Panther 2, we’ve got it all here. The film’s stars, Martin Freeman and Michael Feige have also given us their thoughts on the picture. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is also covered in our guides to the Marvel timeline, all the future Marvel movies, and how to catch up on Marvel movies in time for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The release date of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Filming for Wakanda Forever is scheduled to begin on November 11, 2022. So it’s been a long time since the release of Black Panther in February 2018. The release date of the film was initially scheduled for May 2022, however, it was postponed owing to the pandemic.
The whole cast of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be back for the sequel. Cancer claimed the life of actor Chadwick Boseman in 2020. King T’Challa will not be replaced in Wakanda Forever, as Marvel has made it clear he will not be recreated. T’Challa’s younger sister Shuri is played by Letitia Wright, while Okoye of the Dora Milaje and Nakia, a Wakandan spy, is played by Danai Gurira and Lupita Nyong’o, respectively. Ryan Coogler, the film’s director, also returns.
T’Challa’s mother Ramonda, played by Angela Bassett, is also returning, as is M’Baku, played by Winston Duke, and Ayo, played by Florence Kasumba, a Dora Milaje fighter. Martin Freeman returns as Everett Ross. Jordan Peele’s sci-fi horror film Nope, on the other hand, means that Daniel Kaluuya will not be returning. Among the new cast members is Dominique Thorne, who will soon feature in her own Disney+ programme, Ironheart, as Riri Williams. Riri, a Marvel Comics genius, made her own Iron Man outfit. I Could Destroy You’s The Dora Milaje’s leader Aneka, played by Michaela Coel, has also joined the cast. The clip shows her engaged in some sort of conflict. Tenoch Huerta, on the other hand, will portray Namor, ruler of Talocan (not Atlantis, as in the comics), the undersea country in which Wakanda finds itself in conflict. Michael B. Jordan, on the other hand, is probably out of the running. A Killmonger comeback had previously been pegged at just two out of ten.
Potential spoilers regarding the next Black Panther’s secret identity!
In the sequel, the identity of the man wearing the Black Panther outfit remains shrouded in mystery. Recasting T’Challa was officially off the table, so emphasis went to find a replacement for Boseman. A new Lego set, despite the wild conjecture, might’ve revealed who’s hiding underneath the costume in Wakanda Forever. Warning: Black Panther 2 spoilers ahead! Three new Lego sets are expected to be launched in October, according to The Brick Fan(opens in a new tab). Shuri looks to be wearing the Black Panther outfit in one of these images, with the gold embellishments we saw in the trailer. Shuri’s Sunbird is the name of the collection that includes the figure of Riri Williams/Ironheart, as well as Nakia and the villainous Attuma. T’Challa’s super-intelligent younger sister Shuri appears to be the next Black Panther, as Nakia, Lupita Nyong’o, and Shuri are all photographed in the outfit.
The storyline of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Considering that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released in just a few months, we are surprised at how little we know about the story. However, there are hints in the teaser as to where the sequel will go. For starters, King T’Challa of Wakanda has died, and Queen Ramonda has assumed his place. Despite the fact that someone else is donning the Black Panther outfit, T’Challa’s superhero persona lives on. Talocan, the undersea realm controlled by Namor (based on the ancient Aztec paradise Tllcn and modified from the comics’ Atlantis), is also causing friction with Wakanda. This too is a mystery, although the armed militia we saw in the trailer might have an impact. The film’s official synopsis can be found here: “It is in the wake of King T’Challa’s death that Queen Ramonda, Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke) and Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumbo) fight to protect their nation from interfering world powers in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. In order to assist the Wakandans to accept their newest chapter, the heroes must join together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and carve a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.”
Black Panther 2 is the final Marvel Phase 4 movie, Kevin Feige has announced. In terms of narrative, it doesn’t provide us with any clear hints, but it does suggest that the film could wrap up this phase of the MCU before Marvel’s next Thanos-level villain, Kang the Conqueror, takes centre stage in Phases 5 and 6. Riri Williams’ role in Wakanda Forever is still a mystery, although her appearance in the film comes ahead of her premiere in her own Disney+ drama, Ironheart. A heart is hammered out of metal in the teaser; might this be her first superhero costume? For now, the movie’s promotional materials show a flying super-suit for Riri. Shuri and Okoye appear to have visited the young prodigy at MIT in the film’s set shots as well.
Martin Freeman warns us to be prepared for the unexpected when the film finally arrives: “Sometimes it’s just weird. I believe [Coogler] could tell by my facial expression when he said some of the things he was saying that I found it strange. After a while, he seemed to stop and start again. As long as you stick with me, this is going to succeed, he insisted.” Additionally, it will be a tribute to Boseman. Feige has claimed that the sequel is “obviously extremely emotional” without Chad. “However, everyone is eager to reintroduce the world of Wakanda to the general public and to the film’s adoring fans. You can bet we’ll do it in a way that would make Chad very happy.”
