Beginning to fill out the cast list for Amazon Prime Video’s original drama series Wilderness, According to Deadline, Ashley Benson, Eric Balfour, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Claire Rushbrook, and Morgan Van Peebles will join Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman and co-star Oliver Jackson-Cohen in the Firebird Pictures series. The show will premiere in 2023, although no date has been assigned for its present release.
When the romantic thriller based on the B.E. Jones novel of the same name was initially announced to be in production, only its stars, Coleman and Jackson-Cohen, were confirmed. We follow a British couple, Liv and Will (Coleman and Jackson-Cohen), as they travel around the United States National Parks, but they aren’t simply there for a relaxing holiday.
To Will, the vacation represented a new beginning following the destabilisation of their otherwise idyllic lives in New York City after Liv learns of his extramarital affair. When Liv’s heart has been crushed and she is hundreds of miles away from their little village, she thinks retribution is the only way to heal it. This is a “twisted love narrative” that rapidly degenerates into a “living nightmare,” according to the author of Wilderness. In addition to Benson, who played Hanna Marin in Pretty Little Liars, Balfour will portray Garth in the new series. Three actors have been cast in the role of Caryl, Detective Rawlins, and Ash.
Detective Wiseman will be played by Jonathan Keltz (Entourage), while Bonnie will be played by Talia Balsam (Mad Men). Aside from Jackson-Cohen, Crystal Balint (Midnight Mass), Natalie Sharp (The Flash), and Geoff Gustafson (Hot Tub Time Machine), new cast members include Crystal Balint (Midnight Mass), Mike Flanagan alum Jackson-Cohen, Marissa Sharp (The Flash), Zach Gustafson (Hot Tub Time Machine), and former Reign co-stars Jake Foy and Keltz. Wilderness is presently filming in the United States and Canada, but no further information has been given about the characters. Firebird Pictures is behind the show’s production, with author and creator Dickens serving as executive producer. So Yong Kim, the director of Lovesong, and Elizabeth Kilgarriff, who wrote the script, are both executive producers.
Beginning in 2023, “over 240 nations and regions” will be able to watch Amazon’s Prime Video stream Wilderness.
