A new teaser for the forthcoming 2nd season of Syfy’s smash spin-off, Chucky, has been released following a flurry of announcements that will no doubt keep the internet busy for some time. A teaser for Chucky and Tiffany’s gender-fluid kid, Glen/Glenda, was released by the show’s creator Don Mancini despite their decision to skip SDCC. The clip shows Tiffany’s reappearance as well as Glen/Glenda, played by Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actor Lachlan Watson. The second season’s plot and location have never looked better than they do in the new trailer. As a result of the horrible events of Season 1, Jake Wheeler, Devon Evans, and Lexy Cross find themselves at a Catholic school, where Chucky (Brad Dourif) continues to torment them.
Despite the faculty’s initial scepticism about the existence of a violent, sentient Good Guy doll, it doesn’t take long for them to change their minds after Chucky manages to access them. Suddenly, all hell breaks loose when a gift-wrapped Good Guy doll comes up at the school, strangling the priest with his own rosary and frightening a nun with the immediately iconic one-liner “Hello, my name is Chucky. Pray with me!” It’s evident that the killer doll has great plans for this season, as a series of Good Guy dolls emerge from their boxes with blades in hand. Much of the video is supposed to set the stage for Chucky’s return and the location of the upcoming new season, but Watson’s Glen/Glenda is arguably the most thrilling moment for fans of the franchise.
First time since Seed of Chucky in 2004 that the character has been on-screen, which offers up several new storylines for Season 2’s themes. A pink automobile with a “they/them” California licence plate greets them as they return to the scene in style (Jennifer Tilly). After acquiring an ancient Good Guy doll at a garage sale, Jake, the protagonist of the first season of Chucky, accidentally summons evil into his hometown of Hackensack. Chucky came into contact with old friends and new enemies while out wreaking havoc on the town and hatching a scheme to infiltrate children’s hospitals across the country.
While the specifics of the new season have yet to be revealed, it appears he’s not happy that his plan has failed, and thus he’s set his sights on Jake and company wherever they go. Alex Vincent, Christine Elise and Barbara Alyn Woods will all return in Season 2, along with the thrice-killed Devon Sawa. Sutton Stracke and Gina Gershon, as well as horror legends like Joe Pantoliano, Tony Nappo, Lara Jean Chorostecki, and Gina Gershon, will all be joining the cast. On October 5, Chucky will return to cause havoc one last time before Halloween.
