Harry Styles is slated to star in the new British romantic drama, My Policeman, following the release of his new album and Olivia Wilde’s upcoming thriller, Don’t Worry Darling. He marries Marion (a schoolteacher) and is in a relationship with Patrick (a museum curator) at the same time in 1950s Brighton. Everyone’s life might be in danger if they discover their secrets. It is based on the 2012 novel by Bethan Roberts and directed by theatrical director Michael Grandage, who has previously worked on stage productions.
Writer/director Ron Nyswaner received an Oscar nomination for his work on the 1993 picture Philadelphia; producers Greg Berlanti, Philip Herd and Cora Palfrey also received nominations for their work as producers. Sarah Schechter serves as a consultant on the project.
Additionally, My Policeman features Ripper Street’s David Dawson and Emma Corrin of The Crown as the other two key characters. Check out the latest My Policeman details ahead of its October release date.
A theatrical and internet distribution are also planned for Amazon’s original film, My Policeman. Amazon Prime Video’s streaming distribution of the film will begin on November 4, 2022, following a limited theatrical release of the film on October 21, 2022. On June 15, 2022, Amazon Studios released the film’s official trailer. The teaser suggests that My Policeman will be an emotional rollercoaster for the three main characters. After staring at a picture of stormy seas, Tom is asked by the curator what his opinions are on the painting, and the tape begins. This remark, which appears to be his response is also an expression of love. As Patrick continues, he uses the analogy of forbidden love to describe their feelings for one another, and he pushes Tom to surrender to those feelings as well.
Styles’ Tom and Dawson’s Patrick have some passionate moments in the one-minute film, which also shows how Corrin’s Marion fits into the men’s friendship. According to the teaser video, My Policeman will be a narrative of three individuals who fall in love in the face of a challenging social situation.

My Policeman’s Confirmed Characters
Tom Burgess, played by Harry Styles – Police officer Tom is in a relationship with a museum curator in Brighton.
It seems likely that Linus Roache will portray an older Tom in the latter stages of the tale. Marion Taylor, played by Emma Corrin, is portrayed by The two falling in love and marrying despite the fact that Marion knows Tom is gay and has fallen in love with someone else.
Marion’s younger self is played by Gina McKee. Patrick Hazlewood – David Dawson They have an attraction to each other: Tom has a crush on museum curator Patrick. They appear to have a long-lasting connection, based on the evidence.
A younger version of Patrick is portrayed by Rupert Everett. The planned historical romance film is based on a novel of the same name. Despite the similarities between the novel and the film’s narrative, the original work is supposed to have been based on real-life persons and their lives. Robert Buckingham and author EM Forster are the main protagonists. According to The Guardian’s description,
In a love triangle with a police officer and his wife, author EM Forster was able to find bliss for many years. The personalities of Forster and Buckingham are very reminiscent of Tom and Patrick’s. Both Patrick and Tom share a significant age gap with the writer and his partner, Tom. It is Buckingham’s wife, Mary, who cared for Forster in his final years, who is even the inspiration for Marion’s character.
My Policeman takes place in the 1950s, although there are references to Tom, Patrick, and Marion in their previous incarnations that imply that the tale will continue for decades into the future. Alternatively, the tale might return to the 1990s in the future, just as it did in the original novel.
PLOT
At a time when social and political trends were rapidly changing, My Policeman takes place in the 1950s. Tom Burgess, a young police officer who falls in love with the artistically inclined museum curator Patrick Hazelwood, finds himself in the heart of history’s shifting tides. Tom falls in love with Marion, a schoolteacher. Tom gets married to Marion, but he never abandons his love for Patrick, whatever the circumstances. Now three young people are embarking on an emotional and socially fraught journey that will take them from high school through college and back again.
Even as the plot unfolds and the passage of time passes, the three characters’ longing and remorse remain constant. My Policeman is not a tale of intrigue or suspense, but rather one of a man’s long and hard journey through life. Though we know what it’s about, we don’t yet know how each character deals with their emotions and self-discoveries, and how this upheaval in their life all comes together. My Policeman is expected to be a poignant depiction of love, freedom, and forgiveness.
