Those who have been eagerly awaiting the TV series adaptation of Richelle Mead’s young adult novel series Vampire Academy have finally had their wish granted. The launch date for Peacock’s 10 thrilling hour-long episodes of the spooky thriller has been announced as September 15th. NBC’s Peacock ordered Vampire Academy as a series adaption a year ago, teaming up with paranormal television gurus Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre (Legacies) to develop and executive produce the series. It was initially reported on the announcement of the project a year ago. St. Vladimir’s Academy boarding school’s new supernatural universe was presented in August, and Plec was eager to adopt her previous Vampire Diaries experience to the intriguing new supernatural world of St. Vladimir’s Academy.
On September 15, Mortal Kombat’s Sisi Stringer and Sex Appeal’s Daniela Nieves will portray half-human Dhampir Rose Hathaway and Moroi princess Lissa Dragomir, respectively, in the regal society of vampires. When it comes to romance, Vampire Academy focuses on Rose and Lissa’s love for each other, despite their differing backgrounds. Dhampir Rose and formidable Royal Lissa are both destined to serve as protectors of one other against their joint adversary, the Strigoi.
To protect their civilization and way of life from outside threats, they must work together to cope with the internal politics of Royalty, which are threatening from within. Showrunners Plec and MacIntyre set out to breathe fresh life into Mead’s young adult series Vampire Academy after a 2014 feature picture rendition of the book, starring Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry, was savaged by critics. Universal Television and Peacock teamed together to bring Plec and MacIntyre’s reboot to life, following in the footsteps of previous successful programmes, such as Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and WandaVision. Vampire Academy also features Kieron Moore (Sex Education) as Dimitri Belikov, AndrĂ© Dae Kim (Degrassi: Next Class) as Christian Ozera, and J. August Richards (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Victor Dashkov, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia Mckenna-Bruce, Rhian Blundell, Jonetta Kaiser, and Andrew Liner.
Peacock will begin broadcasting Vampire Academy on September 15th.
