‘Causeway,’ Starring Jennifer Lawrence: Synopsis, Release Date & Cast Details

Lila Neugebauer, who previously directed Broadway’s The Waverly Gallery, has had her next A24 feature film, Causeway, bought up by Apple Original Films. Jennifer Lawrence (Don’t Look Up, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) stars in and produces the award-winning picture, which will make its global debut in cinemas and on Apple TV+ later this year. Intricate aspects of the picture remain a mystery. Emmy-nominee Brian Tyree Henry will feature with Lawrence in the project (Atlanta, Bullet Train). It’s described as a “intimate depiction” of a soldier (Lawrence) returning to her hometown of New Orleans and dealing with the difficulties of readjusting to normal life once again in the film’s basic description.

On June 17, principal filming began in New Orleans, Louisiana, for the film, which was first announced in April 2019. Ottessa Moshfegh, Luke Goebel, and Elizabeth Sanders wrote the script for Causeway. Causeway is also distributed by A24, IAC Films, and IPR.VC, and Excellent Cadaver. Excellent Cadaver has Lawrence and Justine Ciarrocchi on board as producers. Neugebauer also works as an executive producer and director. Apple Original Films has added Causeway to its ever-expanding roster of films. CODA, which won three Oscars at the 2022 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, is on this year’s list of nominees.

It will be released with Lawrence’s other upcoming picture, Bad Blood, in which she will play Silicon Valley businesswoman and Theranos crisis survivor Elizabeth Holmes. In addition to Cha Cha Real Smooth, which won the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, Apple Original Films will soon debut Raymond & Ray, starring Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke; Spirited, a modern musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, starring Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, and Octavia Spencer; and Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Aviator.

Causeway has yet to be given an official release date, but it will screen in cinemas and on Apple TV+ throughout the world later this year.

Official Synopsis
Causeway is an intimate look at the struggles of a soldier in her new home city of New Orleans to acclimate to civilian life.
