Exclusively to Collider, 1091 Pictures released the trailer for When I Consume You, a well-acclaimed psychological demonic horror film. An urban folktale set and shot in Brooklyn, the film follows a pair of brothers as they seek vengeance on a stalker they can’t identify. Collider was also entrusted by the production firm to disclose the release date of the forthcoming horror film: August 16th, less than a month away. There is something evil lurking in every frame in the frightening trailer for When I Consume You, which hints that we could be startled by the twists and turns the story takes.
As the novel progresses, it is possible that the siblings’ bond might be destroyed. As the clip shows, even if the siblings don’t know what they’re up against, they’ll be more than prepared to take on the task, and they’ll even resort to violence when necessary. You can get a thrill out of seeing how determined the main characters are to have the problem resolved, unlike most horror protagonists who prefer to wait for the menace to come to them. When I Consume You is written and directed by Perry Blackshear, who made his feature film debut with They Look Like People in 2015. An honourable mention from Slamdance was given to the film at its debut in 2015.
Fantasia, Filmquest, the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, and this year’s Panic Fest have all included Blackshear’s new film in their official selections. To find out more about his inspiration for this film, as well as its paranormal elements, Blackshear spoke with Variety at Fantasia. It seemed to me that there is more to fear than death as I wrote it.” Death by damnation, a painful death, or a lifeless death is all terms that describe the same thing. After completing ‘They Look Like People,’ a film that delves deeply into psychology, we were eager to try something more surreal. You can also sense pain in the same receptors as physical pain when you’re lonely.
It’s felt in the body strongly. We didn’t want to make this opponent merely an ethereal ghost; we wanted to give him some type of physical nature. Actor Evan Dumouchel (Doctor Sleep) returns to Blackshear’s directorial fold after previously collaborating with the filmmaker in both an acting and a producing capacity on two of his previous projects. Libby Ewing (Scorpion) plays the second sibling, while MacLeod Andrews (A Ghost Waits) completes the cast. The video-on-demand premiere of When I Consume You will take place on August 16th.
