Her life will be flipped upside down in August when she stars in Look Both Ways. Reinhart plays a young lady with two distinct possibilities ahead of her as she moves on from Riverdale. Prior to the film’s August premiere, Netflix released the film’s official trailer. A chain of circumstances leads Reinhart’s character Natalie to take a pregnancy test the night before graduation, and the trailer begins with Natalie asking the question “what if?” Instead of sharing the results, Natalie imagines her probable future in two distinct paths as she contemplates her options. There are 2 ways to look at it: one, Natalie is eager to obtain her dream job in Los Angeles.
She meets a new guy there who shows her the ropes and they appear to click. As a first-time mother, she returns to Austin, Texas, where she adjusts to her new role as a young mother. During the course of her two alternative futures, Natalie encounters a variety of challenges. Both futures have Natalie experiencing “life-changing love, pursuing her ideal job as an artist, and rediscovering herself,” which is a common theme in both. Based on the teaser, viewers may expect a breezy rom-com that also raises some important concerns about Natalie’s dual existence. “What ifs” can never tell us what lies ahead, no matter how often we ask ourselves.
Additionally, Reinhart’s previous roles help bring a potential film to the table. Reinhart’s background with YA projects (Chemical Hearts and the first few seasons of Riverdale) bolsters her reputation and her ability to bring a fun new movie to the table, even if Look Both Ways is not a YA film. Look Both Ways also features Danny Ramirez, Aisha Dee, David Corenswet, Andrea Savage, Luke Wilson, and Nia Long, in addition to Reinhart and the aforementioned cast. April Prosser wrote the screenplay for Wanuri Kahiu to direct. Eric Newman, Jessica Malanaphy, and Bryan Unkeless serve as producers, with Reinhart as executive producer. On the 17th of August, Netflix will release the film Look Both Ways.
