The new television programme Andor, which is a Star Wars spin-off, will make its debut on Disney Plus with a double-season launch. Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, returns in this prequel television series that follows the events in Rogue One. The news was confirmed by the Star Wars Twitter account, which also revealed that the first 2 episodes of the show will be released simultaneously when it begins streaming in August.
This will be just a few short months after the six episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi concluded their run on Disney Plus. Genevieve O’Reilly will play the character of Mon Mothma on the programme, which will also include Adria Arjona, Stellan Skarsgard, Kyle Soller, Fiona Shaw, and Clemens Schick in unspecified roles. Gabriel Luna will play the part of Cassian on the show.
Star Wars Celebration was the venue for the world debut of the program’s first trailer, which hinted at a dark perspective on the galaxy far, far away. Season 2 of the show was also announced at the convention. Both seasons will consist of a total of 12 episodes. The events of Season 1 will take place over the course of a single year, five years before the events of Rogue One. Season 2 will cover the subsequent four years.
According to the show’s creator, Tony Gilroy, “[Cassian’s] adoptive house will become the foundation of our whole first season, and we witness that place get radicalised.” [Cassian’s] adopted home will become the base of our whole 1st season. “Then, we see another planet that has been entirely decimated in a manner that is reminiscent of colonialism.
The Empire is making rapid territorial gains. They are eliminating everybody who stands in their way at this point.” The first 2 episodes of Andor will be released on August 31.
