The writer for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Brent Friedman, is currently working on developing an animated television programme based on the Grounded comic book series. According to Deadline (opens in a new tab), the Grounded TV adaptation will take place in the same terrifying world as the Xbox backyard survival game, that was developed by Fallout: New Vegas studio Obsidian & follows a group of teenagers who had to survive after being shrunk to the size of ants.
The game follows a group of teenagers who have to survive after being shrunk to the size of ants. The idea of the television series is quite similar, with four high school pals plotting “great things” that will ultimately result in the friends being much smaller. They will, much like in the game, be charged with surviving against now-enormous predators such as ants and other ordinary garden residents, as well as deciphering a large corporate plot that poses a risk to the security of their entire community. Friedman and Brien Goodrich, who worked on the Halo video game franchise from 2008 to 2019 as art lead and cinematic director, are adapting the Xbox game for the television screen.
Other specifics, like the actors, the remainder of the creative team, and certain story aspects, are still being kept under wraps at this time. It is difficult to keep up with all of the video games that are currently being adapted for film and television, from the recently released Resident Evil Netflix series and the Halo TV show to the Chris Pratt-led Mario movie and the film adaptation of the Borderlands game, as well as so, so many others. In the meanwhile, the complete version of the video game Grounded is scheduled to be released in September of 2022.
