How long could you live in a futuristic white cube for five million dollars before you died? You are cut off from the rest of the world. There’s no way to contact friends, family, and other people you care about. Nobody knows what’s going on outside of your own little bubble. With the exception of a robotic voice keeping everything in control, you’re left with nothing but yourself and your thoughts. Mukunda Michael Dewil (Vehicle 19) asks that question in his new film, The Immaculate Room, in which Kate Bosworth and Emile Hirsch play a seemingly ideal couple who go on a life-changing opportunity to live in the titular area for the possibility to secure a multi-million windfall.
A movie teaser for the next thriller reveals that this mind-bending private experiment will have its fair share of locked-in difficulties, but nothing is ever as easy as it sounds, especially in movies. For now, Mike (Hirsch) and Kate (Bosworth) have agreed to put the outside world on hold while they try to live behind the pristine cavernous walls of this futuristic cell, which is being released by Screen Media Films/Chicken Soul for the Soul Entertainment. Despite the lack of furnishings and other conveniences, the hotel provides top-of-the-line facilities, as well as access to food and beverages – albeit in oddly packaged canisters.
It really appears to be a simple approach to generating a substantial sum of money that may transform your life. You know what? I’d pay to live in this kind of isolation! There are some AirBnBs that have fewer amenities than others. What’s the matter with this place?
Of all, if everything went according to plan, it wouldn’t be much of a thriller. A gun is found in the restroom, for whatever reason. And then there’s Ashley Greene, a sultry and mysterious companion on the journey.
Distrust, bewilderment, and fear permeate every contact. Then, of course, paranoia will infiltrate the group’s consciousness. There may be a dark secret lurking in this purportedly spotless chamber. Or is it just the imaginings of those who have lost touch with reality? These are all unresolved questions. Until the 19th of August, at least. Indeed, despite how strange this sci-fi notion may appear at first glance, it’s an interesting and even frightening one, especially as more individuals have gotten acclimated to living in solitude for long periods of time amid a continuing pandemic. At times, it has seemed as though our lives had been disconnected from the outer world.
Maybe that’s what sparked the idea for this film? In any case, the notion is intriguing enough to keep viewers interested even if the film fails to deliver. The Immaculate Room will be here before we know it, so we don’t have long to wait. In only a few weeks, we’ll find out if the film, which reunites Bosworth and Hirsch following their Force of Nature reunion in 2020, lives up to its concept. You may view the film in the comfort of your own home when The Immaculate Room premieres in cinemas and on video-on-demand on August 19.
