‘Late Bloomers’: Karen Gillan, Margaret Sophie Stern, & Jermaine Fowler & other Cast Members, Synopsis, & Release Date

According to Deadline’s exclusive, the star-studded ensemble of Lisa Steen’s directorial debut, Late Bloomers, includes a diverse group of brilliant performers, many of whom have worked with the filmmaker in the past. We’re Doin’ Great and Park Pictures will produce the film. The film’s script was written by Anna Greenfield, who grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Louise, a young woman who broke her hip, meets a Polish individual who can not speak English.

She finally gains the fortitude to face her mother’s early Alzheimer’s through their connection. Nebula actress Karen Gillan, well known for her role as Louise in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, will join Margaret Sophie Stein as her Polish friend in the next film. Brick, Louise’s roommate and landlord, will be played by Jermaine Fowler, who recently featured in Sorry to Bother You. In addition to Talia Balsam (Divorce) and Kevin Nealon (Saturday Night Live), the cast includes Talia as Louise’s parents. Following her role in Thor: Love and Thunder, Gillan will reprise her role in Marvel Studios’ The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special as well as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 next year.

Gillan will also be voicing Rhona Who Lives by the River in the forthcoming Disney Plus animated series. This will be the first time that Greenfield and Steen have worked together again since their short films Sundowners and Stepdaddy both premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Late Bloomers has the potential to be a joyful and funny picture for audiences when it premieres, thanks to the collaboration of two skilled filmmakers and a terrific ensemble. We’re Doin’ Great’s Alexandra Barreto and Taylor Feltner, together with Park Pictures’ Sam Bisbee, will produce the film.

In addition to Park Pictures’ Jackie Kelman Bisbee, Lance Acord, Cody Ryder, Wendy Neu, and Franklin Carlson as executive producers, the film’s other producers include Fierce Optimism Films’ Robina Riccitiello, Good Gravy Films’ Emma Pompetti, and Tegan Acton of Good Gravy Films, as well as Hallee Adelman and Ivy Herman of World of HA Productions. Additional executive producers on the film include Burn Later Productions’ Sam Slater and David and Paul Bernon; mm2 Asia’s Marc Iserlis and Ng Say Yong; and Bindery Films’ Greg Beauchamp and Carter Collins. The film is directed by Sam Slater and produced by Greg Beauchamp and Carter Collins. The film’s release date has yet to be determined.
