Season 4 of The Boys is finally here. As of this writing, there is no official return date for The Boys season 3 on Amazon Prime, but we already know a lot about what we can expect in season 4. As The Boys season 3 ended with some major revelations, it is evident that the group will once again take on the Supes. In addition, Homelander and Billy Butcher’s future and the return of Maeve have been teased by showrunner Eric Kripke. Everything he’s told us about The Boys season 4 is right here, in our in-depth guide. We’ve broken down the possible release date, which cast members are most likely to return, and where the narrative may be headed. Please be aware that this article includes SEVERE spoilers for the Season 3 finale of The Boys. Prior to moving on, make sure you’ve viewed The Boys season 3 episode 8
Season 4 premiere date for “The Boys”
Season 4 of The Boys has yet to be announced. Season 3 will conclude on July 8th, 2022, after the show was recommissioned in June of that year. There’s a good chance we’ll have to wait a bit before we see any new episodes. Despite the lack of clear information, we’ve dug deep into prior seasons to see if we can figure out when the programme will return. Seasons 1 and 2 of the programme were separated by a year and a month, with a larger gap of a year and eight months between them, albeit the Coronavirus epidemic prolonged that gap. Season 4’s release date might fall anywhere between July 2023 and March 2024 if the current trend holds. However, the actor who portrays Butcher, Karl Urban, has hinted that filming may begin later this summer. Talking to the news website Collider, he said the following: “As of August 22, I believe we’ll be kicking off Season 4. So I’ll be back, and I can’t wait to get my Butcher back on.
It’s a great crew to be a part of; we work hard and have fun together, and I’m looking forward to seeing where they take the characters once this season is through.” According to this information, fresh episodes of The Boys might air in late 2023. Of course, for the time being, this is only an estimate. We will let you know as soon as we hear anything official. One thing that appears certain is that Varsity, the spin-off series of The Boys, will air first before season 4. This was first announced in 2020, and it will launch on Prime Video in 2023, as previously said. A Vought-run institution puts college-age Supes through a series of tests like those in The Hunger Games.
Plot of The Boys season 4
However, the end of season 3 gives us a very decent indication of what will happen in the upcoming season. The Boys have reunited and are redoubling their efforts to bring down the Supes once and for all. Nevertheless, it appears that Victoria Neuman is now their primary adversary. Due to The Deep’s drowning of her opponents in the season finale, she was elected Vice President. This puts her in the race for the most powerful Supe ever, at least in the political arena. But this time around, they’ll be aided by Starlight. She’s now a fully-fledged part of Butcher’s crew after attempting to alter things from the inside. After Temp V, he may need all the support he can get, as he was left to cope with the consequences. Billy is in grave danger in the upcoming season, as he’s been warned he’s on borrowed time owing to the drug’s influence on his body.
Once you’ve gotten through Homelander, there are still plenty of options. He is still as insane as ever, and it doesn’t look like anything will be able to derail him any time soon. Despite the Supe lasering a bystander and broadcasting his unpopular poisonous beliefs in a national TV speech, the Storm Chasers are just as much in his camp as ever. After introducing his son Ryan to the world, he’s now joined by him as well. In an interview with IGN(opens in new tab), Kripke hinted at the story’s potential direction. “Allowing him to raise Ryan will result in his becoming a second Homelander, with potentially disastrous consequences for everyone involved. He’s on his way to becoming another Homelander if he remains there “The words of Kripke are noteworthy.
When it comes to season four, I believe that’s a strong indication that Butcher and Homelander are going to go head-to-head over Ryan.”
There’s no indication yet on whether or not Season 4 will feature a new villain. Soldier Boy has been taken down, but he is not yet dead. When the series resumes, we could see him ejected once more. While Kripke may have a new weapon in his arsenal for season 4, we’re betting on the possibility of finally meeting someone who can defeat Homelander once and for all.
Alums from the fourth season of The Boys
There has been a lot of growth in the Boys cast over the previous three seasons, and it appears that nearly everyone will be returning. Season 4 filming is scheduled to begin in the coming months, and we expect casting announcements to be made then. In the meanwhile, here are the survivors of the season 3 finale. The Boys are almost certainly going to return. Jack Quaid will play Hughie, with Laz Alonso playing Mother’s Milk and Tomer Capone playing Frenchie. Karen Fukuhara will be playing Kimiko, while Erin Moriarty will be playing Starlight. Homelander, a member of The Seven, survived despite the group’s diminishing ranks. To put it another way, Antony Starr will be returning to The Deep, along with his characters The Deep and A-Train, as well as Ashley, the Vought suckup played by Colby Minifie. Season 3 of Homelander included Ryan Crovetti, Cameron Crovetti’s son, as a prominent character, thus we may expect him to return.
Claudia Doumit is expected to return as Vice President of the United States when Victoria Neuman takes the helm.
Paul Reiser as The Legend and Katy Breieras as The Deep’s now-divorced wife Cassandra, two more regular characters, might make a return. Giancarlo Esposito’s comeback as Stan Edgar, Vought’s disgraced boss, is still up in the air. He was defeated by Neuman and Homelander in a pincer manoeuvre and hasn’t been seen since. Nothing is impossible for him in season 4, from a cameo to a major part. After being savagely slaughtered by Homelander in the season 3 finale, we assumed we’d seen the last of Nathan Mitchell’s Black Noir. When asked about the character’s demise, Kripke stated that Noir was no longer alive, but he did admit that Vought may replace him. In an interview with Deadline, he said: “Without giving anything away, I’ll state that the person known as Black Noir has died. His organs are all over the place, but when you have a fully quiet, completely masked-clad hero, it’s quite easy to recast them in a different role.”
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he confirmed that Mitchell will return in a new form. According to Kripke: “His new persona will wear the Black Noir costume, but it will be a different one. It’s clear that Black Noir isn’t done being a hero. So it’s only that in season 3, the person who wore [the Noir suit] is no longer there? However, Nathan will be portraying a character in the upcoming season that is both intriguing and amusing.” Several more characters’ destinies remain up in the air following the conclusion of season 3. After Maeve (Dominique McElligott) went into hiding with her lover Elena, we bid her farewell. During this time, Mallory pushed Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy back onto the ice in order to eliminate his danger. Kripke predicted that both of them will return at some time in the future. This is what he told Deadline: “Maeve will be back at the conclusion of the series, for sure.
Please bring back Soldier Boy.” In a follow-up interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said they were “100%” allowing Soldier Boy to return. Kripke made the following statement: “Always keep in mind that you should never murder anybody unless absolutely necessary. Always open a window instead of closing a door. Whether or not Soldier Boy will return is something we’ll all have to wait and see about.”
There’s still a lot to learn about The Boys season 4, but we’ll keep this guide up to date as new information comes in. For now, check out our review of The Boys season 3 and the varied reaction to Black Noir’s death in the conclusion.
