Since its first release in the year 2020, Valorant has had a great deal of success in the marketplace. The game has totally surpassed CSGO’s dominance in the 5v5 first-person shooter genre, which it had previously dominated. Fans are beginning to speculate as to whether or not the game will ever be ported to a console now that it has been released. Let’s find out
Is Valorant coming to console?
It is not difficult to see why PC players are the only ones who can play Valorant, given that the game is heavily influenced by Counter-Strike and has found a lot of popularity on that platform. The game calls for a high level of control and accuracy from its players. In addition to this, it calls for a large number of inputs, which simply cannot be continuously produced by a controller. When played with a mouse and a keyboard, the game is in its most enjoyable state.
There are, without a doubt, a select few remarkable individuals such as Dasnerth who excel at playing this game with a controller. However, the likelihood of a player controlling a controller experiencing any satisfaction from Valorant is close to nil to none. Even in the unlikely event that the developers are able to devise a workaround for the controller problem, there are still a few other things that need to be figured out on their end. The developers will need to think carefully about whether or not the player base for Valorant on consoles will be large enough to make the game a commercial success.
And if it isn’t big enough, they’ll have to implement crossplay to make up for the lack of space. Now, as they add crossplay into the equation, they will need to be concerned about aim assist. With the implementation of aim-assist for controller players, we already get a glimpse of the type of passionate debates that will take place within the community if Valorant ever obtains crossplay. This game is not currently scheduled for release on any platforms, and there are no plans to change that. At one time in the past, the developers did mention that they were experimenting with a console version of the game.
After then, however, there were no further statements on it. It is reasonable to expect that Valorant will not be released on consoles any time in the near future. …and that could have worked out for the best. The developers do not now see the need to make such a significant adjustment because the game is already performing really well.
