DeWanda Wise has been cast in a new movie. – AP Another of Hollywood’s “Chriss”—Chris Pine—is joining forces with the woman who just featured with Chris Pratt on Jurassic World: Dominion. A cast that currently includes Annette Bening, Danny DeVito and Jennifer Jason Leigh has added Wise to the roster, which will also showcase the abilities of Pine as both a performer and a filmmaker with the film Poolman.
In addition, he co-wrote the script with Ian Gotler (Doula, My Heroes Were Cowboys), with whom he previously collaborated on two 2014 comedic shorts, Vampire Lawyer with Chris Pine and Pa-gents with Chris Pine. Poolman sounds like a lighthearted dramedy based on its titular protagonist, Darren Barrenman, a pool maintenance worker (Pine). An Angeleno by birth, Darren is in charge of maintaining the Tahitian Tiki apartment complex’s enormous pool.
When Darren isn’t making sure the building’s most important amenity is running well, he can be found attending city council meetings with his friends Jack and Diane, who share his passion for the city (DeVito and Bening). Darren will unintentionally discover the most heinous water crime of all time taking place in his own backyard at some point. Darren understands that the scandal will shake the town to its core as he moves forward in his efforts to put those at the top to justice.
The fact that he has no prior experience in uncovering political corruption means that he will require assistance, which he finds in the form of a well-connected but mysterious woman who will either fulfil her promise to Darren and assist him in uncovering the truth, or she will be the downfall of his mission. We know that Wise has signed on, but we don’t know who she’ll be portraying in the film. Our first impression was that she would be playing the mysterious woman alongside Chris Pine in the film’s ensemble cast, rather than the star. Anyhow, Poolman is fortunate to have Wise on their side.
One of the most talked-about (and entertaining) portions of Dominion was her portrayal of Kayla, the protagonist of the film. Along with this, she has been on the big and small screens in a variety of other films and television shows. Wise’s next project will be Showtime’s Three Women, which premieres in 2023. Pine, Stacey Sher, and Patty Jenkins will produce Poolman. There’s no word on when the film will be released just yet.
