Rather than just one season, Dalgliesh has been given the green light for the second round of production. Both the second and third seasons of the British police procedural will be airing in the near future on television stations worldwide. Filming for the 3rd Season is expected to begin in Northern Ireland in 2023, but no dates have been set for when it will begin. Adam Dalgliesh, a poet, investigator, and recently widowed, is the protagonist of the British television version of P.D. James’ novels. Thirteen novels explore the protagonist’s personal and professional journey. TV show investigator Bertie Carvel is played by actor Bertie Carvel.
For his roles as Miss Trunchbull in Matilda the Musical and as Rupert Murdoch in Ink, he has twice received the Laurence Olivier Award for best actor in a leading role in a musical. Additionally, he has been nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in Matilda. Four of the six episodes in Season 1 include another theatrical actor, Jeremy Irvine, who plays Charles Masterson. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the sequel to the Mamma Mia series, featured a young Sam Carmichael portrayed by a British actor.
The London Critics’ Choice Award for Young British Performer of the Year and the Empire Award for Best Male Newcomer nominated him for his role as Albert Narracott in Steven Spielberg’s War Horse in 2011. Season 1 of Dalgliesh may be seen for free with premium membership on Acorn TV and Prime Video. Episode one premiered in the United States in the Fall of 2021, three days after it aired in the United Kingdom.
Dead of an Expert Witness, A Certain Justice and The Murder Room are all slated to make up Season 2. The season will consist of six episodes, two in each part. Stewart Harcourt and Helen Edmundson will write the third and fourth episodes together as they did in Season 1. A Certain Justice will be directed by Andy Tohill and Ryan Tohill, while Death of an Expert Witness will be directed by Geoff Sax. To bring Dalgliesh to life, Charlie Pattinson, Elaine Pyke, and Willow Grylls formed the production company New Pictures, which was launched in 2013.
With Netflix’s acclaimed series The Innocents, which stars Sorcha Groundsell and Percelle Ascott, as well as the historical drama The Spanish Princess, which stars Charlotte Hope and Ruairi O’Connor, the production business is no stranger to the world of television. All3Media and Acorn Media Enterprises have agreed to split distribution rights for the film. “Dalgliesh” was a huge success, and I’m thrilled to be collaborating again with New Pictures to bring to life even more stories from P.D. James’ mystery novels,” said Sebastian Cardwell, Paramount’s deputy chief content officer in the UK. Fans of the nearly 50-year-old franchise will be ecstatic to hear the announcement that the novels will be brought to life in two more seasons of the series. Keep an eye on Collider for additional information about the series.
