After a chapter filled with flashbacks of Bardock, Goku and Vegeta teamed together to confront Gas in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 84. As Gas returned to Cereal, the two Saiyans assaulted him, reaffirming their Saiyan pride and resolve to never give up in war. Ultra Ego Vegeta smirked and stated that he was merely warming up, despite Gas’s best efforts to push the two back. In Dragon Ball Super Chapter 84, the battle has only just begun, yet Vegeta looks to be full of confidence. Do you think the 2 main characters will be able to defeat the present challenge they are facing? Come on, let’s see what we can find out.
Chapter 84 of Dragon Ball Super: Vegeta and Goku Take on Gas
Ego-inducing
Two days before the official publication of Dragon Ball Super Chapter 84, a picture of Ultra Ego Vegeta and Ultra Instinct Goku was released. Fans were pumped up for the big showdown. When Goku and Vegeta were on top of him, Gas was there to protect him from a devastating combo attack from the two of them. Gas had been feeling the weight of Ultra Ego and Ultra Instinct, as well as their presence in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 84, on his shoulders. According to Vegeta at the end of the chapter, the Ultra Ego component shields him from harm.
Even though Vegeta was kicked in the belly, it looks like Captain America is on his mind as he prepares for round two. Granolah blocked Vegeta’s Destruction blast, but he didn’t fall down until he used up all of his energy. It was still a spectacular show given Goku was out after that, and he was going to have a blast versus Gas. As long as the fight goes on, Vegeta has a chance of winning.
Intuitive to the Extreme
For the sake of clarity, Goku is the protagonist of the Dragon Ball series. Dragon Ball Super Chapter 70’s flashbacks of his father, which he never knew, were well worth the time spent in the flashbacks. In terms of Goku’s most recent powerup, Ultra Instinct, he needs a calmer mind than with Ultra Ego. It helped that Ultra Instinct Goku had to dodge and attack back Gas in particular ways while the two of them were battling together. That the first bout ended in a tie only shows that they were still in the beginning stages of their battles.
Given that Goku has already used Ultra Instinct to aid him to win, most notably against Moro and to a lesser extent against Jiren and Kefla, it’s safe to assume that Goku vs. Gas round 2 will follow suit. It’s just a matter of time before Goku runs out of UI. Granolah assaulted him as the clock ticked down. Goku may have to hurry things up a bit if they’re going to win, in order to prevent exhaustion. As long as they keep working together, it appears like they will be victorious.
Granolah?
It’s possible that there is a third option in the room. Granolah is unconscious and wounded as of Dragon Ball Super chapter 84. Even with their Ultra Ego and Instinct combinations, Vegito and Gogeta may need the help of Granolah if a suggested fusion fails on Gas. Until Granolah’s recovery is complete, Goku and Vegeta will have to continue working together. There’s still a chance they can overcome Gas if they keep this up. There is no way to know if Gas genuinely requested this at the time. Furthermore, he did not look fatigued despite having gone a vast distance in space. However, Goku and Vegeta’s battle with Gas will have to be postponed until at least June 20th, 2022 (JST).
