After several months of rumours, it has now been confirmed that the popular anime series Fire Force will return for a third season. Anime fans all around the world enjoy loving, sharing, and debating the newest rumours and speculations about their favourite shows. Social media, in particular Twitter, is where leaks are discussed, and both actual and bogus news may quickly travel to followers around the world. Fire Force’s resumption had been rumoured by a leaker last month, but the Japanese production company behind it has now verified it.
OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED: FIRE FORCE SEASON 3
Final confirmation came on May 17th that Fire Force season 3 will be returning. Japan’s Twitter page, along with its American counterparts, announced that a new series had been ordered and that the third season had begun filming.
Many leaks from last month, however, have given anime lovers reason to believe this news was imminent. According to SugoiLITE, a well-known and normally trustworthy Twitter leaker and insider, “Fire Force (Enen no Shouboutai) TV Anime Season 3 [is] being made.”
The good news is that Fire Force’s comeback was all but certain because anime renewals are based on two factors: popularity and source material. No need to take our statement for it; there’s plenty of evidence that Fire Force is a huge hit with viewers. There are now 890,000 reviews on MyAnimeList for both seasons of Fire Force, with an IMDB rating of 7.6/10, an 83 per cent Rotten Tomatoes rating, and a 4.1/5 on Crunchyroll. Fire Force was clearly successful enough to warrant a third anime season despite these numbers having little significance to the Japanese performance, probably a more essential component in renewals than overseas success.
After that, we have enough content to make a third season of the anime. Anime Geek (formerly Monsters & Critics) noted that the anime only translated the manga up to chapter 174 of volume 20. The good news is that Japan has released 304 chapters in 34 volumes, bringing the series to a close early this year after a magnificent six years of serialisation. Fire Force has adapted around 10 volumes of the manga every season, thus the production team has enough material for at least 1 more season of the anime, and maybe two if the manga content can be extended out further in future seasons.
Predicted release dates for FIRE FORCE SEASON 3
The announcement that Fire Force will return for a third season was welcomed by fans, but no release date was given. It’s possible to anticipate the future based on prior seasons and David Productions’ production timetable for Fire Force. There is a 7 to the 8-month gap between the announcement of Season 1 in November 2018 and its launch in July 2019, and the announcement of Season 2 in December 2019. Many fans may have anticipated that the anime will return in April 2022 as part of the Spring programming schedule based on this production cycle.
David Production’s busy schedule certainly contributed to the absence of formal information on season 3. The studio has been working on Strike Witches: Road to Berlin, 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team, and Cells at Work!! since the second season of Fire Force ended in 2020. A 52-episode adaptation of the Urusei Yatsura series is now being worked on by the studio and will be shown across four seasons later this year. For the time being, fans may expect Fire Force season 3 to premiere in either October 2022 (optimistic) or January 2023 (more probable) if David Production continues to prioritise this series.
