Recap of TBATE Chapter 145
It begins with Arthur seeing that there are an excessive number of crows surrounding the castle. He’s got a bad feeling about this, so he starts looking into it more. When Arthur sees four heads nailed to the fence, he realises that they are Reynolds, Alice, Eleanor, and Tessia, all of whom he has never seen before. It all comes to an end as he wakes up and finds it was a nightmare.
He is greeted by Alea, who enters the cage and offers him a letter from Alduin. Alduin tells Arthur that the council is trying to frame him and Cynthia Goodsky as terrorists, and he has a limited amount of time to save himself. Alduin’s letter reveals that he overheard Dawsid and Blaine discussing Arthur’s transfer to a living person and that he was able to intercept the conversation. Alduin concludes by assuring Arthur that he and his family are safe. Arthur is escorted to the council by Bairon, who tells him that he intends to treat his family the same way he treated Lucas’ family.
Arthur calls him a thirteen-year-old kid and makes fun of him for it. Arthur claims that his brother was a psychopath who slaughtered innocents and turned to the dark side of the spectrum. Arthur learns that Cynthia Goodsky has been sentenced to public execution from the council room where her trial is taking place. His heart goes out to her as Arthur’s trial approaches. The council chooses to adopt Arthur’s mage title and all of its associated advantages.
Following Dawsid’s orders, Arthur is put in prison until further notice. She gets upset and reminds him how fortunate he is that Sylvie was spared his death. After that, Alduin informs Arthur that he would no longer be able to keep Sylvie because he has lost his mages’ privileges. Once in his cell, Arthur immediately begins conversing with the person he has been assigned to speak with. It appears as though someone was anticipating Arthur, and Arthur responds by saying that the time has come. That person is revealed to be Windsom at the end of Chapter 146 of TBATE.
