In an unexpected move, the fourth season of Attack on Titan has continued. There will be a Final Season in 2023 if you can believe it; the first episode aired in 2020 (if you can). If you’ve finished the series and are wondering where the next episode of Attack on Titan is, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Fortunately, Attack on Titan season 4 part 3 has a sliver of information available.
An official release date and teaser trailer for the upcoming episodes have been released. Everything is in place for a fitting conclusion to one of the finest anime programmes ever produced. A little more digging will be done after that. To get a sense of what to expect in 2023, we’re going to hypothesise on the release date of episode 88, as well as which chapters of the original material it will likely adapt. When will the third and last episode of Attack on Titan return?
The third and final season of Attack on Titan will premiere in 2023. A teaser trailer for the 3rd part of Season 4 was released accompanying the news on the show’s Twitter account. We know very little beyond that. However, considering MAPPA’s ever-busier schedule, it’s unlikely that the release date will be pushed back.
The expected release date for Attack on Titan episode 88
Attack on Titan has fought its way through nearly a decade of release windows. A new season of anime has premiered every spring, fall, and winter since 2013. Attack on Titan episode 88 is expected to air sometime in the late winter/early spring of 2023, most likely in the months of January and February. Why? The first two episodes of the Final Season were made available in December 2020 and January 2022. Without any production delays, the company should be able to deliver at the same time next year. Part 3 will be shorter than Parts 1 and 2, which will allow us to finish the project more quickly.
The last upcoming season of Attack on Titan is a movie, isn’t it??
The last season of Attack on Titan was rumoured to be adapted for the big screen. You may thank the ongoing popularity of “canon” anime films like Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Demon Slayer Mugen Train for that. In this instance, it is not the case. The third and final season of Attack on Titan will not be a movie, but rather a series of television episodes based on the manga’s last chapters.
How many more episodes of Attack on Titan are there in the series?
Part 3 will most likely be a quick read, but we can’t be sure. This is due to the fact that there is a severe shortage of new material. Attack on Titan Final Season/season four translated the manga’s 91st chapter through chapter 116, which took 16 episodes in the first part of the final season/season 4. After a 12-episode run, Final Season Part 2 included chapters 117 to 130. With just nine more manga chapters to adapt, Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3 might last for roughly ten episodes based on the current manga chapter-to-episode ratio. MAPPA’s approach to the (expected) action-heavy moments in the near future might push that number up to 12 or 13.
What to anticipate from the third and last part of the final season of Attack on Titan
First and foremost, the long-running feud between Paradise and Marley appears to be coming to an end. It remains unseen what will transpire in Part 3. A world-ending act, the Rumbling sees the Titans imprisoned in Paradis’ battles and used as a massive army by Eren. After killing everyone outside of Paradis, Eren intends to let his pals enjoy their lives unhindered by the cycle of vengeance that would otherwise return to Paradis and its “devils.” With Paradis and Marley working together, Eren’s path to freedom is blocked. Among them are Eren’s “sister” Mikasa, his former Survey Corps comrades, and the surviving members of Marley’s armed forces.
Before we get to this final confrontation, there are a few wildcards to deal with. Floch is the most prominent. In spite of Gabi’s shooting, the devoted lieutenant to Eren appeared to survive his fall into the water. Finally, he will have a significant part in the show’s conclusion. Zeke, too, is most likely still ensnared in a game of chess. Zeke is presently caught in the Coordinate because of Eren’s actions in Part 2, but if there’s anybody who can break out of a temporal jam, it’s him.
In addition, Eren’s global rampage may lead some Jaegerists – those who support him – to abandon their allegiance. The outcome of this war may be decided by whether or not they support or oppose Eren. In the end, the destiny of the world will be decided by a fight between Eren and Mikasa. Whether or if she is able to persuade him to abandon his warpath might be the deciding factor.
