The 4th season of Attack on Titan is still going strong. The Final Season began in 2020, continued through 2021, returned in 2022, and will return once more in 2023 for the Final Arc. To answer your question, yeah, if you’re reading this and wondering where the next episode of Attack on Titan is, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Speculation will abound as to the release date of episode 88, what chapters of the original source material will be featured, and what kind of tale we may expect in 2023.
Attack on Titan season 4, part 3 (also known as Attack on Titan Last Season part 3) and the conclusion to the series’ final chapter are all covered in this recap. If you want to know exactly where the story ended, check out our summary of Attack on Titan episode 87.
The third and final season of Attack on Titan is scheduled to air at some point in the future.
Attack on Titan: Final Season Part 3 will return in 2023, according to official announcements. Twitter provided this information alongside a preview for the third episode of season four, which was posted on the show’s official account (which you can watch below). We don’t know much more than that. However, considering MAPPA’s ever-busier schedule, it’s unlikely that the release date will be pushed back anymore.
The expected release date for Attack on Titan episode 88.
In the nearly 10 years since its debut, Attack on Titan has traversed a slew of release dates. From 2013 until the present, new anime seasons have been launched in the typical Spring, Summer, and Winter periods. If this is the case, the release date of Attack on Titan episode 88 is likely to fall around the late winter/early spring of the year 2022 or early spring of 2023.
Why? Final Season’s first two parts were published in December 2020 and January 2022. If there are no delays in production, we should be able to deliver at the same time next year, provided there are no other issues. To speed the creation of Part 3, we’ll soon realise that it’s shorter than the prior two parts.
Attack on Titan: The Third Season is a movie, right?
There was a rumour that the last season of Attack on Titan will be made into a film. Anime movies like Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Demon Slayer Mugen Train, which are considered canon, have helped fuel this trend. Here, though, that’s not the case. The third and final season of Attack on Titan will not be a movie, but rather a series of television episodes based on the manga’s concluding chapters.
What to anticipate from the third and last part of the final season of Attack on Titan
First and foremost, the long-running feud between Paradise and Marley appears to be coming to an end. The great question mark over Part 3 is how it ends. Encircled by Paradis’ battle, Eren has begun the Rumbling, an end-of-the-world act that uses the Titans for military purposes. After killing everyone outside of Paradis, Eren intends to let his pals enjoy their lives unhindered by the cycle of vengeance that would otherwise lead them back to the “devils” of Paradis.
The confluence of forces between Paradis and Marley stands in Eren’s path. Among them are Eren’s “sister” Mikasa, his former Survey Corps colleagues, and the remaining Marley troops. Before we get to the final clash, we have to deal with a few surprises. Floch is the most prominent. In spite of Gabi’s shooting, the devoted lieutenant to Eren appeared to survive his fall into the water. Expect him to have a significant part in the closing act of the performance.
The chessboard presumably hasn’t moved for Zeke either. As a result of Eren’s actions in Part 2, Zeke is presently trapped in the Coordinate, but if there’s anybody who can break out of a temporal jam, it’s him.
In addition, Eren’s global rampage may lead some Jaegerists – those who support – to abandon their allegiance. The outcome of the war may be decided by whether or not they support or oppose Eren. Overall, anticipate Eren and Mikasa to face off in the last fight over the destiny of the world. If she can get him to give up his warpath, it may make all the difference in the world.
