To promote his upcoming game Haunted Chocolatier, Stardew Valley founder and main developer Eric Barone has released a new boss battle tune for fans to check out. Currently, in development, Haunted Chocolatier is a game in which players adopt the character of a new chocolatier in town. Players then create their own chocolate business, with the help of friendly spirits. Stardew Valley, Eric Barone’s first published work, is a farming sim that was originally made available for Windows in 2016. It was an instant smash, selling a staggering quantity of copies in a very short time period.
Until 2019, Eric Barone was the lone developer working on the game as ConcernedApe, his identity and the name of his firm. After working on the game for 7 years on his own, he has subsequently brought in numerous more devs to keep it updated. Hence, he was able to produce all of the visual and audio effects, music composition, and programming on his own. While discussing the soundtrack for Stardew Valley on a recent Livestream, Eric Barone also dropped numerous music themes for Haunted Chocolatier. Beeboss” is the name given to the first peppy and buzzy sound in the game, which suggests that players will encounter a bee adversary at some point. Barone had not yet revealed that Haunted Chocolatier’s combat will feature boss encounters, thus this came as a double surprise.
Due to Stardew Valley’s lack of large foes, the Haunted Chocolatier is already a step removed from it. “Pristine Snow” was the title of Barone’s second song, and it was a more tranquil but still sad tune. He said that “much of the music in the game would probably sound like this” after hearing it since it reminded him of Stardew Valley (via PC Gamer).
Haunted Chocolatier, like Stardew Valley, will be developed solely by Barone, who announced the game in 2021 and stated that he would be working on it. This implies that he is responsible for every aspect of the project, including the music. It’s clear from the trailer, which features comparable visual and design choices to Stardew Valley.
Even though the game is still in its early stages of production, Eric Barone is giving it everything he’s got. Just one little element of the enormous work he has in creating the full game, including the music, combat, and monsters. Having only one developer means that Haunted Chocolatier’s release date is still a long way off, but it does give players faith that the game will get the same level of care and commitment as Stardew Valley.
