Attack on Titan (season 4)
Attack on Titan: The Final Season is the fourth and final season of the Attack on Titan anime television series, produced by MAPPA and directed by Jun Shishido and Yuichiro Hayashi, respectively, who replace Tetsuro Araki and Masashi Koizuka. Scriptwriter Hiroshi Seko took over the series composition from Yasuko Kobayashi, while character designer Tomohiro Kishi took over from Kyji Asano as character designer as a result of the series changing production studios.
This season covers the Marley (chapters 91–106) and War for Paradis (chapters 107–139) arcs from Hajime Isayama’s original manga. Gabi Braun and Falco Grice are presented as teenage Eldian Warrior candidates vying to inherit Reiner’s Armored Titan four years after a failed expedition to reclaim the Founding Titan. Meanwhile, the Survey Corps prepares an attack on their home turf, while Marley plans to invade Paradis to boost their weaker forces and recapture the Founding Titan.
Both sides suffer a heavy death toll when Marley and the Paradis army go to battle in Marley and the Shiganshina District, while Gabi and Falco are forced to confront their own misgivings about the purported “devils” of Paradis. Gabi and Falco are both slain in the midst of the struggle. Eren Jaeger starts the Rumbling after becoming aware of widespread anti-Eldian sentiment sparked by Marleyan propaganda in the second part of the season. The Rumbling releases thousands of Colossal Titans in an attempt to eliminate all life outside of Paradis before it’s too late.
