According to reports, FIFA is being renamed “EA Sports Football Club.”

EA Sports Football Club, according to recent speculations, will be the new moniker for the FIFA series. Since 1993, Electronic Arts’ long-running sports franchise, FIFA, has been affiliated with the FIFA World Cup. Last year, EA Sports published a statement that hinted to a split between the FIFA brand and EA Sports. Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, has recently stated that the company’s association with the FIFA brand is of little advantage to EA. Athletes in the worldwide league of soccer are all linked, but it appears that the rights to have them appear in-game are handled independently.

This implies that EA’s soccer simulators might feature real-world players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian MbappĂ©, regardless of any affiliation with FIFA. Adidas has an exclusive agreement with the soccer juggernaut that prevents other shoe labels from being printed on the pitch. UFL features Cristiano Rinaldo if EA’s soccer franchise does not rely on the FIFA name. According to Video Games Chronicle, FIFA and Electronic Arts’ collaboration may come to an end in 2022. This year’s FIFA 23 is expected to be called EA Sports Football Club, according to Jeff Grubb, presenter of podcast Grubbsnax. According to Grubb, EA has already filed trademarks for the new name, signalling that the split is nearly complete.

However, FIFA and EA have yet to issue an official statement on the supposed schism. It has been reported that FIFA 23 would include significant changes, despite the ongoing spat between its makers, EA Sports and Konami. Speculation has it that the title will have two World Cups, one for men and one for women, in an effort to profit on licencing arrangements throughout the whole soccer world Additionally, cross-platform play is planned to be a feature of the game, allowing players from different consoles to meet up on the pitch.

FIFA 23 is also expected to be the final FIFA game, with EA Sports Football Club taking over in 2023. Rumors have been circling about EA Sports and the FIFA series, and it appears like the split between EA and FIFA is now coming to fruition. However, EA Sports Football Club is likely to be a direct successor to the series, and the split may even allow EA to better portray the soccer world. Despite the fact that the FIFA series has lasted over three decades, FIFA 23 may be the final chapter.
