Fans of Pokémon may display their enthusiasm in a variety of ways, but one player’s inventiveness prompted them to replace their keyboard keycaps with miniature cards of Pokémon. There are many Pokémon-themed products out there, ranging from cosmetics to clothes to face masks, all of which are licenced by the company that owns the property. Pokémon Trading Cards are one of the most popular Pokémon products in recent years. Opening packs of Pokémon cards has become increasingly popular on social media, and this has sparked interest in the cards as a collectable, making them extremely expensive.
Some merchants are restricting the number of packs of cards collectors may buy at once because of the frenzy. Thieves have targeted Pokémon card shops in the hopes of snatching up a valuable rare card. In addition to stealing Pokémon cards, some internet merchants have started selling counterfeits. As a result, internet merchants like eBay have begun requiring customers to verify that the Pokémon cards they purchase are genuine. Pokémon fanatics, on the other hand, are inventing new uses for these cards. Keycaps featuring miniature reproductions of Pokémon cards hidden behind clear keys were published online by enthusiast ‘poochie-dingo,’ who wanted to show off his creations on the WASD keyboard.
It features the last evolutions of Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise, as well as Mewtwo, the most powerful starting Pokémon of all time. Not sure if these custom keycaps are also from Pokémon cards, but they look to be on the F5 through F8 keys. That they were utilising these keycaps to play Pokemon Yellow on a PC port is confirmed by Poochie-dingo. Despite the fact that Pokémon was designed to be played on Nintendo hardware, the publicity surrounding the initial GameBoy release of Pokémon Yellow has gone mainstream.
Naturally, the core Pokémon series is still being developed and released on the Nintendo Switch, with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet being the next release. Only time will tell whether and when new Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet & Violet will become trading cards. They may not make sense to anyone who is not playing a PC adaptation of the Pokémon game, but these modified keycaps are nonetheless intriguing. A full keyboard in this design is sure to appeal to a lot of Pokémon lovers. As Poochie-dingo stated, they’ve decided to create their own Etsy shop so that other Pokémon enthusiasts may obtain their own personalised keycaps.
