For the first time in a generation, the Pokémon games will feature real open-world gameplay. Following weeks of anticipation about what might come after Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the new games were officially confirmed during the February 2022 Pokémon Presents. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet appear to be expanding on popular mechanics from other recent releases, despite the lack of detail. As the third anniversary of the publication of Sword and Shield approaches, speculation over the possibility of a new main Pokémon game has grown since the end of 2021.
Since Generation Five’s Black and White, new Generations in the series have been released around every three years, making 2022 the year to look for a new region in the series. It was thought that the debut of Pokémon Legends: Arceus would prevent a Generation 9 announcement from occurring this year, but speculation was thrown off by the game’s release. In spite of this, the game is expected to be released later this year, according to the official Pokémon YouTube channel. Most likely in November, based on previous seasons’ release dates. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s open world was also revealed in a Pokémon Twitter post.
Early gameplay footage revealed at the reveal of Pokémon Legends: Arceus led many to believe that the game would have fully open-world gameplay, but this was not the case. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s open-world gameplay is likely to incorporate some of the concepts attempted in previous games, but it will give players more flexibility to explore and control their own plot. Scarlet and Violet’s gameplay appears to be early development footage. In addition, several of the biomes presented appear to be empty or of low quality. Although the new territory has yet to be revealed, users can already see palm palms, sand, and wild landscapes.
Pokémon mechanics, which have been a staple of the series since its inception, appear to be making a comeback in this teaser. Atmospheric images also reveal what looks to be the player character’s residence and huge, vibrant metropolis in the upcoming game’s design. Little information has been revealed so far about the new Pokémon that will be introduced in Generation Nine; however, we do know what Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will look like and their names. It is possible to choose between the Grass-type Sprigatito, the Fire-type Fuecoco, and the Water-type Quaxly at the start of the new adventure. Hopefully, more information on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released soon to help generate enthusiasm for fans eager to embark on a new journey in the next Generation Nine games.
