FromSoftware’s highly anticipated next game Elden Ring will contain two new distinct classes, according to a recent official Tweet. In their soon-to-be-published high fantasy action RPG, FromSoftware has already made it obvious that classes will exist, but the lines between them will not be carved in ink. Like the Dark Soul games, the class system in Elden Ring is versatile, allowing players to choose between different playstyles during the course of the game. Elden Ring is one of the most anticipated games in recent memory. Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls developer FromSoftware’s next attempt to return to the grandiose fantasy foundations it established with previous titles like Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice hopes to achieve just that.
A Lovecraftian gothic nightmare against loosely adapted Japanese mythological motifs and iconography were the main differences between the two games. When it comes to the narrative and visual design of Elden Ring, it appears like the developers are paying homage to some of the traditional fantasy figures like wizards, wand-wielding knights, and dragons, but with a macabre twist characteristic of FromSoftware. With the announcement of the Confessor and Samurai, the official Elden Ring Twitter account opened the doors to courses.
The Confessor, as described in the tweet, is a kind of holy battlemage who use both traditional weapons and magic to defeat their enemies. Because of their prowess with katanas and bows, the Samurai class appears to have a more classic feel because of the way it is depicted. If you’re a fan of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and FromSoftware’s Samurai class, the similarities are evident. As a result, the addition of a Samurai class in Elden Ring is sure to thrill some gamers who believe that the company practically mastered katana gameplay with that release.
Elden Ring’s gameplay footage resembles Dark Souls more than Sekiro, making it difficult to predict how Samurai combat would feel. Elden Ring’s mythology is revealed in a brief tweet from FromSoftware, despite the fact that it’s only a few lines long. FromSoftware’s collaboration with George R.R. Martin on this project is enhanced by the knowledge that both samurai and spiritual warriors exist in this world. When Elden Ring eventually comes out, we’ll find out if these two different mythologies can work together or if they’ll conflict.
