Disney Speedstorm, a new racing game, was shown off today for the first time to the delight of the company’s many fans. The game was unveiled as part of the Nintendo Direct for February, which also featured numerous other upcoming Switch releases. Nintendo’s Mario Kart series, which was also mentioned in the Direct because of the news that 48 new courses will be available as DLC for Mario Kart 8, is the most famous of all the company’s racing titles. The Walt Disney Company is no stranger to the world of gaming.
Kingdom Hearts, a crossover between Disney and Final Fantasy, is the most well-known video game debut of Disney characters. Various Disney characters, such as King Mickey, appear in the game, and players will interact with them at various points. Also, many Disney films have been turned into video games, each with its own distinct flair. During today’s Nintendo Direct, Disney Speedstorm was shown off, giving fans their first glance at what to anticipate from the game.
Because it’s an arcade-style kart racer rather than a realistic racing simulator like Forza, Disney Speedstorm looks a lot like Mario Kart. Songs from films like Pirates of the Caribbean and Monsters, Inc. were featured in the showcase. Special actions and power-ups will be available to each character, allowing them to gain an advantage over their opponents. Even though these power-ups aren’t mentioned, the teaser shows that they may be collected by driving through specific symbols. Sulley’s scare tactics, Mickey’s symphony, and Mulan’s explosives were all on display. The Beast, Donald Duck, and Captain Jack Sparrow were among the other characters featured in the video, and it was hinted that there will be more to come.
There will be new tracks and characters added to Disney Speedstorm each season just as in Fortnite. Although microtransactions are expected, the game is currently free to play with no mention of paid upgrades. Cross-platform play will also be available in Disney Speedstorm, allowing gamers from different systems to compete against each other. Players will be able to play on one Switch at the same time in split-screen mode. The game looks to be a fun opportunity for Disney fans to play as their favourite characters and sprint through moments they adore from the movies. A free-to-play aspect of the game will aid in the game’s appeal to newcomers, but it’s not clear what kind of microtransactions may be expected. Pre-registration for Disney Speedstorm, which has yet to see an official release date, is open now.
