Independent game developer Certain Affinity is said to be working with Microsoft on an Xbox exclusive based on Monster Hunter. Certain Affinity, an Austin, Texas-based studio, has a lengthy history of collaborating with the Xbox team. They worked on multiple Halo games previously and are now supposedly working on the long-awaited battle royale mode for Halo Infinite. The Xbox’s upcoming games list keeps growing. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Arkane Studios’ Redfall, an unnamed Indiana Jones project from MachineGames, and the Bethesda Game Studios-developed Starfield are just some of the first-party titles that gamers are eagerly anticipating.
Project Dragon from IO Interactive and Contraband from Avalanche Studios Group are two examples of third-party collaborations that will be part of Xbox’s future release schedule. It’s safe to assume that Microsoft’s game division has a lot of interactive content to offer in the future. It’s now obvious that some of that content will be sourced from third parties as well. Giant Bomb’s premium podcast GrubbSnax claims that Microsoft is working on an Xbox-exclusive Monster Hunter-like game. According to Windows Central’s Jez Corden, who also claims to have heard of such a project, it does exist.
Project Suerte is supposedly being developed by Certain Affinity, a support firm for the game (luck or fortune in Spanish). Microsoft’s similarity to Monster Hunter implies that the company wants to get into the massive monster combat multiplayer industry. Capcom’s blockbuster series isn’t the only new kid on the block, of course With the release of the free-to-play action game Dauntless on consoles and PC in 2019, developer Phoenix Labs was able to make a name for itself.
Project Suerte, according to unconfirmed reports from Jeff Grubb and Windows Central, maybe a worthy competitor. Capcom’s massively popular Monster Hunter series first appeared on the PS2 in 2004. In the following years, the brand continued to get new entries on home platforms, including the PSP and the Nintendo DS. For a long time, it was considered little more than a niche series that came and went according to demand. The fact that Capcom’s 2018 offering, Monster Hunter: World, is now the publisher’s best-selling game, outperforming sales of the most successful Resident Evil games, shows that the company struck gold with Monster Hunter: World.
