In the game Minecraft, a player-created an enormous red panda sculpture that appears to be rather stunning. For more than a decade after its initial release on the PC, Minecraft has continued to expand in a variety of ways, from its tools to the biomes that players can freely explore. And the sandbox game’s developer, Mojang Studios, has stated that it has no plans to discontinue support for the game in the near future.
As time has passed, in-game constructions have become increasingly sophisticated. For example, user-created cities in Minecraft have taken the internet by storm on a number of occasions. The same is true for the construction of long highway systems, large-scale bridges, and real-world landmarks such as cathedrals, among other things. Mountain kingdoms and roaring volcanoes have even come to life inside the pixelated world of Minecraft, thanks to the efforts of players. Several users were able to create a winding pirate tunnel complete with bridges and watercourses prior to the release of Caves & Cliffs Update Part 2. This cave would be appealing to any aspiring swashbuckler. Occasionally, though, works that appear to be less elaborate on paper might turn out to be rather amazing in their own rights.
Last weekend, Reddit user Wolfbiom posted a few images of a red panda sculpture he and his friends had constructed in Minecraft. Quite a sight to behold, this big statue depicts a red panda traversing a leaf-covered tree branch; quite a sight to behold, quite a sight to behold; quite the sight to behold. Each and every element, especially the structure and design of the animal’s face, as well as the pattern of dark hair lining its tail, needs to be applauded as well. Wolfbiom stated in a second post inside the Reddit thread that tools such as Voxelsniper and WorldEdit were quite helpful, despite the fact that many of the blocks were manually put using reference photos.
As is often the case with player-created Minecraft creations, this one appears to have taken a significant amount of time. Although it took a while, the results appear to have been worth it, especially given the popularity of Wolfbiom’s post on the official Minecraft subreddit.
This year has been particularly fruitful for the perennially popular Mojang Studios title. Earlier this month, the studio released the Caves & Cliffs Update Part 1, which gave players access to a slew of new blocks as well as new critters, goods, and plants. Earlier this month, the second installment of the Caves & Cliffs Update went live, bringing with it improved terrain creation, complicated cave systems, additional tools, and even more blocks. Next year has the potential to be just as interesting.
