Some time ago, a Genshin Impact player made some fan art for Albedo. It looks like something from the 16th century. GENSHIN IMPACT is a game that lets you fight in an open world. It was released in September 2020 and has been popular ever since. The game has a “gacha” system, in which players roll to get different playable characters, which they can use to build their own team as they explore the world. Genshin Impact’s art style has piqued the interest of many fans, which has led them to make fan art, cosplays, and other fan content about the game. miHoYo, the publisher of Genshin Impact, has shown its support for the artists in its fanbase by hosting fan art contests with prizes for the winners. They even go so far as to hold fan art contests for Genshin Impact with prizes for the winners.
On Reddit, 666 TRMNTR, a player in the game Genshin Impact, shared yet another amazing piece of art with the Genshin Impact fans. The piece is about Albedo, a robot who leads the Knights of Favonius’s investigation team. The piece is done in a way that isn’t typical for fan art. It shows the character in a wide scene of nature that almost looks like a Renaissance portrait or classical art. In this lovely winter scene, the only thing that makes it less lovely is the presence of a red pool at Albedo’s feet. In the subreddit for Genshin Impact, fan art of Albedo and Sucrose, one of his lab assistants, isn’t new. This piece, however, shows Albedo in a very different light than other art.
When Rhinedottir, an alchemist and researcher, made Albedo, she had a dark reputation. Albedo was made by Rhinedottir. In the end, her knowledge and skills led her to destroy the world of Teyvat. Primordial Albedo, one of Rhinedottir’s first attempts to make life, was deemed a failure, and she threw it away. Here, the two look at each other coldly, and there is a lot of tension between them. Primordial Albedo was jealous of Albedo’s acceptance into human society in the game, so he came up with a plan to kill and replace him with someone else. Primordial Albedo’s artificial nature and lack of empathy can be seen in the way he holds himself and the angle of his neck in the art. He stares at his own familiar figure from afar as if he was trying to get him to judge his own actions.
It doesn’t matter that Albedo has a great backstory in Genshin Impact. This art piece takes it one step further. One Albedo has his fist clenched, but he doesn’t look like he’s going to do anything as he stands over a pool of blood. The drawing doesn’t show the gold star marking that makes Albedo a finished creation and separates him from Primordial Albedo, so there’s a very small chance that someone could be unsure which Albedo is which. But it’s not likely that anyone will be holding their breath wondering. Albedo has been through a lot in his life. This fan art pays homage to that and is a beautiful depiction of the character.
