Kaguya Shinomiya, the protagonist of Kaguya-Sama, is a cunning but kind-hearted character. Her MBTI personality type is cunning, but kind-hearted which matches this. Kaguya-Sama: Love is War is a comic romance series in which the two main characters, Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya, are embroiled in a good-natured but persistent lovers’ dispute at the elite Shuchiin Academy. These two classmates are head over heels in love but are afraid to admit it. They’d rather force the other to confess first.
Miyuki Shirogane is the president of the student council and the school’s top student, while his love interest, Kaguya Shinomiya, has a reputation for being a brilliant, calculating, and influential girl who comes from an extravagantly wealthy and powerful family. Kaguya, on the other hand, does not rest on her family’s success. She prefers to earn what she has, and she has a generous and loving heart. After all, that is what attracted Miyuki to her, and her MBTI personality type reflects this.
MBTI Personality Type of Kaguya Shinomiya: ISFJ-A, The Defender
Kaguya Shinomiya is an assertive Defender, an ISFJ-A. Introverted Observant Feeling Judging is the code name for this personality type, which defines a humble, quiet person who always puts others first. The Defender personality type is comparable to that of the protagonist, such as Miyuki Shirogane, but with a more introverted taste. Unlike Protagonists, who want to help others while assuming dynamic and aggressive leadership roles, Defenders allow their actions to speak for themselves and do not seek notoriety or recognition through their efforts. Defenders such as Kaguya Shinomiya state that “mission accomplished” occurs when the other person feels better, not when the Defender is elevated to a pedestal and hailed as a heroic role model. While protagonists are not always arrogant, they do command a far larger presence than Defenders.
A Defender is an altruistic and meticulous someone who is not quite as gregarious as a Mediator or as courageous as a Protagonist, but who is efficient and likeable and capable of swiftly putting others at ease and assisting them with any difficulty. Defenders like Kaguya are astute, calculated, and patient, approaching their selfless crusade as a job or project rather than a heroic destiny call. This means that Defenders are even more trustworthy than Protagonists, as well as being less obnoxious and stubborn. Defenders are paradoxically humble and introverted, but they define their satisfaction and purpose in terms of their abilities to assist and see others flourish. Defenders are the unsung heroes of society, selfless helpers who are uninterested in receiving awards or recognition for their efforts. All a Defender desires are to see their friends and associates grow happy and safer.
In Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War, Kaguya Shinomiya As A Defender
Defenders are recognised for their practicality, reasoning, observance, and dependability, and Kaguya embodied all of these characteristics and more throughout the events of Kaguya-Sama. She is a master strategist during her love war with Miyuki Shirogane, painstakingly and meticulously organising everything ahead of time to trap Miyuki in embarrassing situations in order to trick him into making a love confession. Miyuki does the same thing to a degree, although his techniques are more improvisational than Kaguya’s, while Kaguya will even slash the tyres of her family car or consult the weather forecast in order to cover all her bases in unexpected ways. Kaguya will not speak until the war is already won, in her opinion, which makes her an abnormally self-centred Defender.
Kaguya more fully embodies her ISFJ personality when she interacts with supporting characters such as Miko Iino, Yu Ishigami, and Nagisa Kashiwagi, all of whom look up to her. Kaguya assists them not because she wishes for them to owe her favours but because assisting others makes her happy. As is the case with many people born into money, Kaguya wishes to identify herself independently of her family’s fortune, and her heart desires to pay “payback” society through her words and thoughts. She cannot simply throw money at everything; she must engage in outreach, which she does.
Kaguya is Nagisa’s primary confidant and advisor in issues of the heart, particularly about Nagisa’s growing connection with a classmate, Tsubama Tanima. Her advice is occasionally incorrect due to her relative naivete, but she always gives it her all and rarely seeks credit or acknowledgement for her efforts. She would prefer to see Nagisa happy — this is sufficient compensation. She shares this mentality with the council’s grumpy treasurer Yu Ishigami, assisting him in the same way as Miyuki does. Kaguya, as a real Defender, is modest and unselfish in all of her undertakings, and she will exert great effort to meet the needs of others. ISFJs like her occasionally find themselves in over their heads while attempting to assist others, but it is always worthwhile.
