For this week’s edition of Shonen Jump, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga is about to take a hiatus. The release of Chapter 167 of Gege Akutami’s blockbuster series was originally scheduled for this Wednesday but has since been postponed. The reason for the one-week sabbatical has yet to be revealed, but it’s safe to assume that it’s to give the mangaka a well-deserved break. After all, he’s been writing incredible chapters one after the other.
Recently, numerous manga creators have begun to take the last week of the month off for personal reasons, and it appears that Gege Akutami has joined them. However, at this moment, nothing is known; we, the readers, will simply have to wait and see.
Even though there is no new chapter coming out this week, we can still look over what happened in the previous chapter and make some guesses for what we will see in chapter 167 next week. Read on to learn everything you need to know about the 167th chapter of JJK.
Recap of Chapter 166
Let’s give a quick summary of what happened in the most recent chapter of the series before we get into spoilers and predictions for chapter 167.
In the previous episode, we saw Higuruma preparing to impose the death penalty that Judgeman had imposed on Yuji Itadori. But Higuruma halted for a while as he remembered how the proof Judgeman had given him had revealed the young sorcerer was not the real culprit but the demon Sukuna who had inhabited Itadori’s body. Itadori took advantage of the brief delay by punching his opponent in the face.
Higuruma, who has been blown into the theatre seats, gets up and tells Itadori that he is not guilty. Reciting a clause from the Japanese Penal Code that stipulates that “if a person lacks cognitive ability or capacity of control, they are seen as someone who couldn’t think for themselves correctly at the time,” Itadori was found not guilty.
Higuruma then stands up and recalls a period when, like Yuji, he was feeble. After the couple has taken a seat together, now comfortable and peaceful, Higuruma reveals that he would award our hero 100 points because he is weak, just like he was. As we come to a close, Higuruma begins to talk about his own past, offering us a sneak peek at what we might expect in the next chapter.
Spoilers for Chapter 167
Although there are no spoilers yet, we do have a teaser for the upcoming episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, which you can see below. “That weakness is the lamp that illuminates the darkness,” states the preview. It’s a strange and perplexing statement, but it’s most likely referring to Higuruma’s backstory and how he got to where he is now.
After all, chapter 166 ended with a flashback sequence, implying that chapter 167 will focus entirely on Higuruma’s past. Perhaps we’ll find out who he killed and why, as well as discover more about this new fan-favourite character.

As usual, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 167 was set to be released on Sunday, November 28th, 2021. This week’s chapter, on the other hand, has been postponed, most likely so that Gege Akutami, the series’ author, can take a well-deserved rest.
