FUG is a shadowy group with a bad reputation across the Tower. Several prominent characters are engaged with them, notably Bam.
The vast and ever mysterious realm of Tower of God includes various groups and organizations which are rarely seen yet are powerful enough to be known and feared across the Tower. One such organization is FUG. FUG is known to be the most violent and clandestine criminal syndicate in the Tower. Their influence in the Tower is significant enough that Jahad and the 10 Great Families want their members killed.
FUG’s main objective is to kill Jahad and the heads of the 10 Great Families. This is not generally acknowledged among the residents of the Tower, and though they operate from the shadows, their existence is well-known. Several significant characters, notably Bam and Rachel, are either linked with or full-fledged members of the group.
After Rachel betrayed Bam by attempting to push him to his death, he was forced to join FUG against his choice. He was told that his companions would be slaughtered if he tried to leave. And thus, he was obligated to do anything FUG requested in order to protect the people he cared about. He resolved to take full advantage of his situation by using it to become stronger. He was trained by a formidable high ranker named Jinsung Ha. The two soon became very fond of each other as they created a master-student friendship.
The structure of the organization is still not totally known at this stage in the series but certain features can be extrapolated based on what has been shown. Slayers are at the pinnacle of the pyramid and are considered living gods among the members of the syndicate. There are the Elders who make key decisions and devise plans, and there are high rankers like Jinsung Ha who occupy specific jobs, such as being the martial arts teacher for Slayer hopefuls.
There are expected to be 11 Slayers, most of which target a single leader of the 10 Great Families and Jahad. However, currently, there are just seven with the other four seats being empty. Bam is a candidate for one of these seats. It’s worth mentioning that of the seven Slayers, only four are truly active. The top Slayer actually has a history with Jahad and the chiefs of the 10 Great Families since he helped them ascend the Tower. He served under Bam’s father who happened to be one of Jahad’s comrades.
FUG is by no means a bunch of people that work together because they like each other. They are a religious organization unified by one thing: their goal to remove Jahad. Many of FUG’s noteworthy members and affiliates are competitors or foes and have tried to kill each other. For example, Bam has been both enemy and ally of the slayers Karaka and White. He is currently on excellent terms with Karaka through their mutual links with their master Jinsung Ha. On the other side, he and White are trying to kill each other.
The question of whether FUG is friend or adversary has no clear answer. It genuinely depends on viewpoint and the particular characters as there’s strife even within the group. The story’ main protagonist is a member, and despite being forced to join originally, eventually rejoined of his own desire after earlier quitting the organization. He is aligned with many members, but others would rather see him dead. The one thing about FUG that’s known is that they aim to overthrow Jahad and his friends for the betterment of the Tower. In that way, they may generally be regarded friends of anyone who aren’t such people.
