The Kengan Ashura sequel series Kengan Omega got off to a flying start with the introduction of two new characters who are both keen to join involved in the Kengan competitions. While Koga is a hothead who believes he is worthy of competing against the best fighters in the world, Ryuki’s uncanny physical resemblance to previous runner-up champion Tokita Ohma suggests that the new fighter may be a highly skilled fighter with enormous potential.
Chapter 3 pits the two against one other in a fight that immediately reveals how far off their skill levels truly are.
After the events of Chapter 2 concluded with Ryuki and Koga squabbling in Yamashita Kazuo’s office, their fight immediately resumes in Chapter 3, with the arrogant Koga initiating his initial attacks against Ryuki. He believes Ryuki, who looks remarkably similar to Koga, is the adversary he seeks to confront because of an unidentified grudge against Ohma that drives him into a rage. Even though Ryuki appears to be taken completely by surprise by the opening barrage of assaults, this does not appear to impair his ability to defend himself.
Koga unleashes a volley of punches, only to discover that none of them connect with their targets. Koga deftly redirects every kick and punch with ease, lazily requesting that Koga cease his attacks. A brief mention of worms causes Koga to become agitated, prompting the defensive fighter to go on the offensive and grip Koga’s wrists, placing the hothead in a vulnerable position. The appearance of Kazuo is the only thing that brings the brawl to a halt, as the sharp-eyed businessman swiftly assesses the situation and orders the two to stop fighting.
Kazuo’s exceptional vision allows him to not only judge Ryuki’s extraordinary fighting ability, but also to discern the tiny differences between him and Ohma’s personalities. He is slightly shorter and clearly younger than Ohma was at the time of the Kengan fighter’s death, which occurred at the conclusion of the previous season.
Nonetheless, he is impressed enough by Ryuki’s abilities to agree to his desire to participate in the Kengan battles straight soon. Ryuki is informed by Kazuo that there is an impending match in which he can be placed immediately, despite the fact that his opponent appears to be a stronger match for him than Koga was.
At the end of the chapter, Utsubuki Kokuro is introduced as the fighter Ryuki will meet. Utsubuki is a promising up-and-comer who quickly accumulated numerous important victories in his first year of Kengan competition. Kokuro is briefly seen crushing a punching bag and is hailed to as the Kengan Association’s fastest-rising fighter during the course of the video. As a result of the vast disparity in talent between Ryuki and Koga, the chapter sets up a confrontation that may provide readers with their first glimpse of Ryuki’s fighting style when he is pushed to his limits.
It’s apparent that Koga has a long way to go before he’ll be able to compete in the Kengan tournaments. Even though he had previously stated clearly that Koga would be annihilated in a battle, Kazuo is surprised to find that Ryuki is not already a proven fighter, and Kazuo’s exceptional eye is able to swiftly judge Ryuki as being ready for the fights.
The fight hints at just how much more adept the higher echelons are in the world of Kengan, and for readers who are new to the series and haven’t read the first book, it is a promise of even more action to come in the series’ second instalment. The best of the best aren’t always enough to win a battle, and as the series progresses into fights among the very elite, it’s impossible to know where the ceiling is in terms of the fighting prowess of these competitors.
